What Micron ram modules do you have? ( Crucial Ballistix ) I would say your not getting the right voltage for your ram. Set the ram voltage and timings to spec manually.

Well I finally dropped the multi to 8 and set the fsb to 400. Man what a boost that gave my memory performance. I was running with a 9x multi at 345 with the ram unlinked at 1020MHZ. It was using I think a 4:5 divider. When I set the fsb to 400 and the ram to 850 it switched to a 15:16 divider. With this I was able to put these scores in the new everest 3.80.885beta:

Memory Read 10045
Memory Write 7280
Memory Copy 6706
Latency 51.8

The closer you can get your memory divider to 1:1 the better off you are.

Back online after a fresh install of XPSP2 (Original system started with a very old version of XP/corruption was aparent) and Artic Freezer Pro 7 installed. Definitely wroth the money! My temperatures dropped 10-12C. I'm especially impressed at how well it holds 43-45C while under extreme loads.

Still trying to work out the kinks with running 4-4-4-1T. I cannot seem to boot into windows after setting that manually, nor SLI-Ready Memory to Expert. I read somewhere earlier to set CPU to MAX in that field. Not too concerned atm due 10:13 ratio, stable and low temperatures. New sig...

Well. After a reboot my temps are back to where they were. 56c at full load. I may have to jump into safe mode and see what temps I get there.

OK I have noticed a pattern. I tried to run TAT again (Which crashes out with an error) then I ran Core Temp and Orthos. Back to 43c at full load. What gives?

Tried reseating the HSF? Retail HSF, ocin'g I was in the mid50's, so I would guess it might have popped out. I don't like the design of these. My retail HSF popped a corner when I was putting it in the case. The new Artic Freezer Pro 7 snapped right in.

Yeah tried all that before. I think running that TAT prog does something that screws with the readings so when you run Core Temp or Speedfan it shows a large drop in temps. I don't know. I just don't know what to believe anymore. Core Temp should tell me the correct temps but it's either easily fooled (By running TAT beforehand) or somehow I am not getting proper readings for some reason. 🙁

Don't know how you make TAT works on your system, but I have not been able to run TAT since day 1 .... After searching around (after several failures), found out that TAT only support INTEL chipsets---Which means (to me) TAT cannot be used on this board --- cuz it does NOT use Intel chipsets (it uses Nvidia)

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Your temps should drop another 3c - 10c. Takes 200hrs to fully cure. You did use the MX-1 that was pre-applied?

Use one program to monitor temps or you will get mixed results. Speedfan works the best. TAT is for only Intel chipsets.

Yeah looks like I was mislead. I wonder why running TAT and having it crash causes all the other progs to give a lower readout. Can't wait to try that Arctic Freezer and see how it effects things. I am going to use the default MX1 paste on it (If it's on there heard some don't have it on). It hardens over 200 hours which MIGHT help if I have a concave CPU plate by filling it (Touch wood).

New member here. In my search around the net trying to find info on the board, I found this site and, well, I kind of like so I joined up!

So anyway, reason I am posting: along with this board I got a core 2 e4300 and some Geil pc6400. Initially when running off the 0202 BIOS I had 0 stability problems, but I did not run with it for very long before upgrading to the 0401 BIOS. Still stability is good, but couple of problems.

The dreaded yellow memory slot issue which won't running mem at 1T.

I also can not change my memory speed. I run it unlinked, and if I try to lower it or raise it system simply won't post. Have tried all variations of voltages, and loosened timings but all to no avail.

What I really want out of this board/mem/cpu combination is to run FSB at 1600, with mem on 1:1 divider, and an 8x multi on the CPU. But my FSB is peaking at around 1500.

Again, I have run different voltages on fsb, loose mem timings, lowering cpu multi to make sure that not oc'ing that too high. Now, I know what I currently have is pretty good. I can get the cpu to 3375 and been game stable (not done extensive testing that high), but the reason I bought this combo is I wanted to run fsb 1600/3.2Ghz/800MHz@1:1...

I read several reviews on the board and everyone seemed to be getting up around 500MHz/2000MHz fsb. and reading review/opinions on the e4300, will get 3.2 no problem.

Now, what I am thinking might be the problem here is that this board is only allowing a bit less that 2 x the processors rated FSB (in this case 200). Most of the people hitting the higher FSB seem to be on the e6xxx CPU's which run at 266, so again 500 is slightly less than double that.

I would like to get other people experience of the e4xxx cpu's on this board. Perhaps this belongs in its own thread?

Also, if there is anyone who has an e4xxx cpu on this board, there is a mod which makes the boards recognise this CPU as having a 266MHz FSB - Would you be willing to see if this allows for higher FSB settings? Will find the link.

Hi, in all honesty I am unsure what Micron modules I have. I purchased them from a computer wholesale store called scan. I managed to get the timings I think right from their advert for the ram.

This says Micron DDR2 800 cas 5-5-5-12. However it doesn't give any indication of voltages or anything like that. I am also unsure if you can tell by looking at the actual ram modules, what it is?

I agree I will not be running at anything like an optimal or even perhaps normal rate. However being really inexperienced in this area I was just pleased that the actual system installed windows and let me booot up correctly.

Everything in windows is running ok, I can install software etc and haven't experienced any problems.

Judging by your Author icon I'd say you were as young as me.

We have another member ( dlxmax ) who has an E4300 he will probably chime in with some info for you. Seeing your default FSB is 800, going to 1600FSB is double. If you double the default 1066 FSB that is 2132FSB. I'm not saying that it can't be done it would be pretty darn tough to do, especially on air. You brought up a good question. Let wait to see what dlxmax has to say. He's is a pretty intelligent person

How about on the chips. Look for a code # or part # that you can compare on Microns database. How reliable is this place? Funny they don't have any manufactures label or info.

Edit: With a Cas 5 sounds like their trying to push some DDR2 533MHz memory. Also the link that I read that you posted said 184pin DDR2????

I don't own this board so I cannot give best judge on it.
By looking at their specifications, they (Commando & P5B Dlx) both are almost identical.
Same chipsets. Commando only has very few more option .. which does not really help much ....

Except that Commando has 2 PCI-E 16x which P5B-Dlx has only 1.

With new BIOS, P5B-Dlx now also supports Quad-core chip and crossfire. So, why waste money for Commando? 😀

What bios do you think is best for OC on the P5B Deluxe. I really haven't played with mine in a while. I am still on 903. I don't want to touch the 1004? where I can't flash back to older bios versions

Yeah, it does have a 9x multiplier, but if I could hit 1600fsb, I would not try to run the chip using the 9 - think the cpu would struggle with that.

Have been to page 92 - if you can believe it in the last few days have gone through every page of this topic.... there's a hell of a lot of it!

And yes, cleared the CMOS properly after flashing.

Fools the mobo into thinking the chip has 266/1066 FSB, which I am thinking might be the way of obtaining the 1600fsb. Just not sure how safe it is, or exactlyh what it is they are using to do the join - or what sort of equivalent thing I could find here in UK.

Can you get your mem to run at 800 and above with the default FSB. I would see how far my memory could clock first and rule out mem problems run Memtest86 v1.7. You could be at a FSB hole too. Try to jump to a different FSB. 412, 425
