You have a FSB Hole @ 1600 step over it and try 1601 - 1700 kept upping the FSB till you find a working one.

Got all the way to 1610 with no luck. It freezes so much I can't even get in the bios sometimes and I hate clearing the CMOS because the SATA plugs & front panel plugins get in the way. Plus I have to pop a mem stick everytime because of the 1T timing default. I don't get it.

Loosen your timings to 5-5-5-15 2T
Which Corsairs do you have C4 or C5

I did use the looser timings and I have the C4

I kept my Mem @ 800 and ran my FSB @ 1595 1600 1605 1610 with no luck.

When lower voltages didn't work I cranked up as high as Vdimm 2.178 Vcore 1.5 NB 1.78 mV+100

I cranked my Silverstone 120mm fan (110 CFM) to get plenty of air.

I wanted to reflash to the 0202 BIOS but when I tried I got a not "downgradable".

Is there an other way to force the reflash back to 0202?

Why what happened?
You can do it with Asus update(I don't recommend).
Edit: Should be able to do it from the Floppy or flash drive pressing Alt + F2 when booting

Looking at my RAM on that list, it shows it as being the basic "compatable" RAM for the system. Digging deeper into the specs, it looks like Corsair specs it out as 2T ram. That's probably the issue, since it's simply not guaranteed to operate at 1T. I may send it back to Newegg for some Crucial stuff if I can't get things resolved through Corsair or Asus.

Exchange them if you can. Corsair changed there chips on the C4's (90nm Promos chips are NG for overclocking ) . The Crucial's have a lot better chance of running 1T and higher FSB

Well I couldn't help myself today. I jumped in and put a 60mm fan over the NB and partially over the ram, then jumped it straight to 1333fsb. I put the vcore at 1.35 which I think is the default, but if its not, oh well. Unlinked and memory is running just fine at 800mhz. Easiest overclocking i've ever done. Speedfan has the 6600 running at 43C fully loaded with folding, my case is wide open still and front/rear 120mm fans are on low. Back to watching football!

I'm getting weid things happening. Every other boot is a non POST. So I decided to reflash and while reflashing I wanted to go back to the 0202 and play with that some more. I get better performance with my memory in SLOT 0 & 1 instead of 2 and 3.

I want to investigate as to whether this is only with the 0401 BIOS or whether it is with the 0202 BIOS as well. Some of my best and stable OC's are using memory in slot 0 & 1.

I decided to reapply my artic silver this afternoon and its shaved a few degrees off my temps. After the 200 hour break-in hopefully its another few degrees on top of that.

I'm hoping the extra headroom will help me to get up to 3.2 or 3.3 on stock cooling and suitable temperatures.

Also happy to report that my RAM has been rock solid at 860mhz and 4-4-4-12 1T. This Patriot RAM is a solid performer for the price!

Thought I would post my recent results as I ran Super PI a number of times and got a significant boost (dropped 6 seconds to 16.297) going from a 3.0GHz clock to 3.150GHz. Does this sound right?

CPU temp: 38C idle, 41C running Orthos 10 minutes
NB: 42C SB: 49C (Fan on stock NB sink, sink w/ thermal pad on SB)

Bios Settings
Vcore: 1.3125
Mem: 2.259
NB: 1.393
Vcore Offset: Auto
FSB (QDR): 1400MHz
Mem (DDR): 800HMz
Ram Timings: 5-5-4-12, 2T

yep sounds pretty good, those e6600 with the extra cache really help for super pi. the best i can muster is about a 16.3

Thanks! Just wanted to make sure I was not reading something wrong. Not a frequent Super PI user and I am only using it as one source to help find the best performance range of this core.
I have taken my time with this board as it will be my primary gaming board and I of course I would like to eek out all the performance I can. Unlike many past experiences this one has been all positive so far with no problems encountered.
I am sure that is about to change as I was unable to get into windows at 9x366. I was hoping to succeed with this attempt before having to look at changing the multiplier or upping voltages more.

So noticed a strange quirk in 0401. I went to try 8x387.5 to get to 3.1ghz. So I set the FSB to 1550 and the memory unlinked to 800 and it wouldn't let me set 800. It would only do 775 no matter what even though it was unlinked from the FSB.

Can anyone else try this and verify if it is an 0401 issue or just a weird thing on my system?

it's isn't just an 0401 issue. only certain fsb's seem to be able to give you an even 800mhz mem speed. not sure what the problem is. have to figure it is some sort of fsb/mem ratio issue.

well thats annoying :p I said screw it and just jumped to 3200 to see if I could make that do what it do!

i'm pretty sure that will work just fine. i'll have to check that setting myself. didnt notice that problem when i went through.

with the 0401 bios i just started at 400x8. and everything above it was fine. at least to the cpu limit of 3.7ghz

ya 400*8 works just fine so far. It seems to be requiring a substantial bump in vcore over 3010 to get it orthos stable. not sure what thats all about.

try having the intel chip control the voltage. seems counter-intuitive but it worked stably for me to 3.7ghz. in the cpu config. i have everything set to enabled except for cpuid and speedstep.

good luck, let us know how it goes.

Running everything at default right now and all is well. I'll probably leave it until next weekend to overclock and update the BIOS.

At 3.2ghz and vcore set to auto it sets it up at like 1.4v. Unfortunately on stock cooling thats not happening or at least I don't like the temps that puts out. I think I am stable now at like 1.34 or whatever the closest vcore is to that. We'll see.

I actually kind of enjoy the challenge the stock cooling is giving me in terms of finding the best overclock I can get within safe temp boundaries. Off to bed for me.

"New" 0307 BIOS out on the Asus site. I read about 6 pages back and saw an 0401 BIOS floating around. Did you guys already cover the 0307? Or just going with the presumably leaked, but newer 0401 BIOS?

I'll try some different OCs with the 0307 or 0401 after I figure out which one to try. With the 0202 I stopped @3GHz because I was having poor results with higher FSB/Memory clocks and I wanted to keep my system up and running.

0307 is old. A review site or two based their motherboard reviews on the 0307 bios, and those reviews were published before the 0401 beta bios was released. Plus, nominally it's an older bios.

That said, this is the first time the 0307 bios has been offered for distribution. But I'd stick with the newer 0401 bios. I'm hosting it at http://maxwatson.com/pub/0401.rar

A final word for overclockers: remove your battery and leave it on the bottom of your case. If you encounter settings that the board can't recover from, hit the kill switch on your power supply. After a few seconds flip it back and boot up with a corrupt CMOS--resulting in default settings. Don't forget to save your basis point in the BIOS as those profiles are actually written to the BIOS's flash ram. Once you've reached a point you like, put the battery back in.

Ah ok thanks for the heads-up on the BIOS. Already downloaded the 0401 off your host and I'll try it later today. Looking to get 3.4-3.5 without having to increase fan speed, case cooling, or NB/SB cooling so hopefully this BIOS does the trick for me.

Also, about the CMOS on a bad POST, I've found that hitting the reset switch 2x quickly also resets it to fail-safe default settings. Like most, having to manually reset the CMOS (remove the battery or mess with jumpers) is probably the biggest deterrent to repeated attempts at OCs, so this board definitely makes the situation a bit easier. Sequence is: exit out of BIOS > no POST > reset button > reset button again quickly > wait for POST.

How have those Crucial Ballistix 2x1GB DDR2-1000 been doing. Can you hit 1000MHz 7x500
I've been wanting to try them Just wanted to see if its even possible
I don't see a 307 bios release on Asus FTP
