The Undoing of The Evil One's Doing Begins

Little steps. Big steps.

Its a good start. The pipeline one, well...its complicated. Its changed quite a bit since Bush first authorized it in the US. Im in the middle (of course) as to whether or not its a good thing or not. Theres definitely pros and cons.

Pros; more money for rich people
Cons; possible horrendous, irreversible environmental destruction for countless future generations.

Funny how these are tough choices for some but not for others.

Oh yeah? What’s the pros and cons for the US?

Pro: U.S. would Import far less oil by rail, import slightly less oil by tanker, combined those would reduce amount of spills and reduces transportation emissions. Adds a few $billion to US economy for construction.
Cons: Adds potential for less frequent but larger volume pipeline spill or sabotage.
Net: Much arguing over basically nothing from an environmental perspective - refine a bit more oil from Canada and a bit less from overseas, while reducing rail traffic/emissions.

Neutral: Zero impact to US oil demand or consumption. Shifts $billions from Canada’s rail tycoons to Canada’s oil tycoons. Slightly increases local price of some oil in Canada, moderately reduces rail freight traffic. A small amount more oil extracted from Canada in the medium term, a small amount less oil extracted from similar marginal oil fields around the globe over the same period.

Put a significant and increasing carbon tax in place if you want to reduce carbon emissions, which will properly incentivize alternatives and reduce emissions and long term fossil fuel use - rather than block pipelines which are far more efficient than trucks and rail, which are currently being used in the absence of a pipeline.

Of course that carbon tax needs either to be matched internationally or also have imports taxed similarly, to avoid simply shifting the emissions overseas (and destroying US jobs).

Thanks for bailing him out but I was hoping the other poster would answer as I doubt he had a clue. As we can see the is very little upside to it as most positives are short term.

Here something that is being "undone": the prior administration's mendacity with, and hostility towards, the press. Anyone see Jen Psaki's press briefing today? She said her first duty was to provide accurate information to the American people. She then answered all questions put to her, and did so respectfully. After Spicer, Hucka Sanders and that barbie doll, man was that refreshing to see.

and she said "i'll see you tomorrow". sometimes boring but informative WH press briefings are back and the media is no longer the enemy.

i also expect regular updates on Covid directly from the scientists, with Biden's full support.

A step here. A step there. Pretty soon you have a path.

Or as Faux News said today, Biden’s preaching unity and at the same time enacting a radical agenda.
Fox would probably say the same thing about losing their license to use public airwaves. It is time for that to happen. Fox makes the claim that part of America is not just misguided, but claims also many others of us are evil. That has lead to a huge number of nut jobs all over the country marching against our democracy to destroy it. Fox needs to be tried for contributing to a climate of sedition and the liars there need to spend some time in jail for it. That and other right wing media groups or any groups preaching fear and hate need to be shut down. This doesn't need to require violence or anger, but uncommon sense. It's always radicals who evoke fear of radicals because of psychological projection.

Biden’s second order will restore collective bargaining power and worker protections by revoking three related orders issued by President Donald Trump during his term, which ended on Wednesday. It also promotes a $15-an-hour minimum wage.

The federal minimum wage has been at $7.25 an hour since 2009.

Biden’s directive also eliminates a Trump order that allowed federal agencies to move many career federal employees into a category without job protections and putting them at risk of being fired.

The White House fact sheet called the Trump order “nothing more than an attempt to gut the career civil servant class and further marginalize career civil service employees.”

I don't see if it restores classifications for any that were changed though.

“Its existence threatens the critical protections of career employees and provides a pathway to burrow political appointees into the civil service,” it said.

At the very LEAST, they need to stop passing their rhetoric and propaganda as news, much less "fair & balanced". It's ridiculous.
Call them 'Fox Political Entertainment, Opinions, and Propaganda' like they actually are.

What they are is a kind of cancerous infection. You don’t cure that by giving it another name. You destroy it any way you can or it destroys you.
