The Ultimate NERD Thread

Let's see who is the biggest nerd on AT. Post something you do that makes you a nerd, and people can post something that tops that if they dare! Last one posting is the ultimate NERD. (hmm, is this thread going to die quickly because everyone is in denial??) hehe.

Ok mine is that I use AIM to talk to my roommates. I even share a room with one of them and sometimes we talk to each other on AIM instead of to each other even though we are 3 feet apart.

he he. so yes. be proud and show off your nerdiness!

I spend my weekends working with computer equipment and hanging out with 4 other guys doing the same thing. All of us are 30+ and I'm the only one that is married.

that's not nerdy, that's lazy.

nerdy is downloading howard stern's full radio show on usenet each day and listening it on your ipod in breaks between classes and during lunch and on the can and at othe moments of boredom and silence.

oh god i will never live this down.

So did RossMAN. I'm not sure what I do that makes me nerdy. BTW, Broohaha, there's nothing wrong with that. My friend records Stern every morning on his comp and makes an mp3 of each day which he listens to on his Nomad.

Anyway, I nominate NuclearFusi0n😀

I wanted to flightsim with four independent throttle levers for the 747. (You know, so I could control the 4 engines independently.)

So I got a PIC 16c765 microcontroller with built in USB port, a PIC programmer, and made myself a custom USB peripheral.

So there! Out-nerd *that*!

Of the last 10 people I've dated, I met 9 of them online.

In high school, I was president of the Physics and Astronomy Club (and VP of Internet Club). My speech intro: "Leaders should wield power, and naturally, P = IV... which makes me perfect for the job."

Peace,
Dezign

wow. that makes you cool in my book. how did you do it, seriously? were any of them any good? this is real interesting...

I like to organize my DVDs by putting relevant information into a database which I make available online so my friends can see what I have and see if they want to borrow. And it allows me to keep track of the collection so I don't buy doubles. Right now my DVD collection is at 1135 DVDs.

I like to watch Discovery, PBS, TLC, T-H-C 😉 channels.

I watch B.E.T. 😉

winner.

Including theatrical and DVD, I've seen LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring about 30-40 times . I've seen Two Towers about 15 times so far including the theater and other "methods."
When a new LOTR trailer is out, I'll re-encode it to SVCD (now DVD) so I can watch it on my TV over and over again. Hundreds of times between the 2 movies so far.
I'm a sucker for anything LOTR...you won't believe the merchandise I have. Anything you can imagine.
I sometimes wear a One Ring around my neck.

I think that's my "nerdiest" thing. The whole LOTR thing. I'm not much into fiddling with computers anymore.

Oh yeah and I did meet one of my exes online (she was local).

My idea of a good time is sitting down with some friends, a case of beer, getting drunk and playing some warcraft or any other game.

I could write a book about my online dating experiences. They were all interesting, to say the least.

Asia Friend Finder

More recently... craigslist.

Met a lot of computer engineers/software developers, commercial directors, artists, an older European rockstar with a beautiful castle, a UCLA radiologist, a millionaire hippy who has hemp factories and converts diesel to veggie oil in Thailand, UCLA/USC college students, some Hollywood-y people in "the biz/industry," and some wonderful girls who I'll be going to a club with on Saturday evening. Tonight, I'm going to a 50-cent record release party with one of the people I met online... he's a really nice guy, and offered to pay for a complete renovation/decoration of my room, since I just moved into a new apt. Claims it's "good karma," and doesn't expect anything back. !!! Of the 40+ people I've met online and then in person since I've been to LA, I've dated several and become good friends with about 5.

Peace,
Dezign

Ummm... I have 4 fully functional computers in my room with barely enough room for a bed? I actually modded one of my computers? I'm a programmer? All of those are pretty nerdy.
