From what I understand about the card reader. It offers high security during transmission to the site, but that site still gets your card number which in most cases gets stored at their site just like everyone elses that didn't use a card reader.

So my 2 card readers are still just sitting in the box. As far as I know having your cc# stolen during transmission to a site is pretty safe anyway. The security problem is when a hacker steals them off their servers.

The card reader is pretty lame. Sets up a load of software running on your pc at bootup or you need to run it when you want to use it. Either way, typing your credit card in is so much easier.

But, it's still a cool looking thing to have connected to my PC🙂

Thanks puppyc73. Apparently they are both the same. Wow, all this time and I was not even aware of this awesome feature. If I had a nickel for every time I purchased something and two weeks later saw it somewhere for a fraction of the price. Maybe I'll put this feature to use now 🙂

also, thanks for the heads up tonetgs! hot deal indeed.

Just signed using the $10 Amazon.com link. I have on ecredit card dedicated to internet purchases only. I was using Nextcard because of there no hassle policy on fraud. It sounds to me like Blue has the same policy but you also get the price guarentee.

It only took a few minutes and I was approved. Worked out for me because I jacked up $4,000+ on the Nextcard because of you people and these forums. I just transfered balance to my new Blue card and I have 6 months no APR.

Sweet!

Thanks for the heads up on a great internet credit card.

You're all overlooking the best thing about Amex Blue. With that chip in the card, "they" will be eventually be able to track you wherever you go. That way, if you get lost in the desert or something, you can be located & rescued! Don't worry about who "they" are, just be glad you were rescued! And when they pull you up into the copter, they'll be able to give you your favorite beverage - cuz they'll know what that is, too!!

<Just a healthy dose of paranoia> 😉

Looks like Gold cards offer "Best Value Protection", as well.

Apologies in advance if I linkified incorrectly.
I'm young, and new at this!

Got it right!

Anyone besides me in the State of Iowa try to get this card? I tried last October and got this reply:

"The reason we cannot accommodate your request is that our Consumer Credit Card accounts are not currently available to residents within the state of Iowa".

Weird huh?

*** Alright, Lemme get this straight**

Ive read both Yes and No on the question as to whether you can pricematch online stores or not. Whats the deal? CAN you or CANT you pricematch online stores. Example: Can i go into Best Buy, grab a Geforce card, then go over to Pricewatch, find an awesome price, send that Price to AMEX, and then get the difference (without paying shipping)? Are there any standards? Does the online store have to be a reputable giant like crucial? If you could buy a product from a local store without shipping payments, and then pricematch it with one of those stores that sells cheap products, and the overprices their shipping, this would be a sweet deal.

Btw...sorry if this has been answered, i couldnt read the 6 figgin pages!!! 😀

As I said earlier, you can just buy it locally and then find a cheaper and print that product page out. Then call them to file a claim and send paper in.

I think that they will have to check if the website you found is legit once they receive your submitted papers.

So along the same line of thought, could you just buy something from an online store with free shipping and then pricematch it with the cheapest price you find? That would be a nice way to cut down on costs. I was also wondering if a store had a low price for a week and then moved it back up afterwards. I'm not referring to an incorrectly priced item but maybe a limited time clearance. Thanks.

All rightie...I've followed the links to the Best Value Guarantee info on AmEx's website, but I have just one question that I haven't seen answered:

Do you need to actually call AmEx to initiate a refund? Or is it possible to email/fax/mail the necessary info to them? Call me antisocial, but I hate having to actually deal with people.

I called AmEx to ask about Blue for Students, and after about half an hour of trying to get the rep to understand my question, she finally told me that Blue for Students does NOT offer Best Value protection. I'm still not 100% sure she understood me, though, so you might want to check for yourself.

Anyone besides me in the State of Iowa try to get this card?

My parents (who live in IA) tried to get it and got the same message. If you read the Terms&Conditions, it mentions how they don't have some sort of agreement with IA and one other place (maybe Puerto Rico). First time I've heard of a credit card not being valid in Iowa. Weird; I agree. . . .

Didn't American Express Blue used to have a free ISP you could use if you have their card? I did a search on this in the forum, and didn't find the answer to this.

SaitohHajime,

I thought of the same thing. I want to order the 2 sets of Klipsch 2.1's to get free shipping from Outpost.com for $399, and then use Blue to get the $299 price from klipsch. I hope it will work.

All, how do you call up and see if the pricematch will be accepted? I have seen several people say they called up and asked if certain things would be accepted. I have called twice and even faxed in the Klipsch ad to see if they will take that, and I can't get an answer. I guess I'll just do it and see what happens.

Repost from another thread...Has anyone actually got the GC after the application? I've got the card already and still no GC...
