the ULTIMATE console war thread!!! which do you like and why?

This thread is just for those to post their thoughts and feelings on the upcoming, fullscale console wars later this year. This isn't for who you think will win, but who you will be rooting for.

I personally would be rooting for the Dreamcast, because the games are kickass, and Sega rocks, but they seem to be going downhill quickly. Can't wait for either the XBOX or the GAMECUBE, because they both will have excellent games. The PS2 kind of disappoints me so far, except for Madden 2001 and SSX. Hopefully FFX and Gran Turismo 3 will bring the system back up from the position it's in right now.

I don't know, I play only PC games now. The only console games I enjoy now are Squaresoft and Capcom games. Not many good fighting games for the PC =/

I second SEGA, PS2 has no games, mine is either used as a DVD player or I play SSX that's about it.

I think the concole that had the best hay day was the PSX, i could be wrong, but i think it had the most games made for it. Now as far as best slightly older, the NES will never die, Any one remember the robot? Had that, but the circuits had shot, the one I had would lift tops, and drop them on a device that hit controller buttons for certain games. . . and remember that running pad they had? that was pretty cool..

I love my old NES and wouldn't trade it for any of these new systems. My g/f and I will play Mario or Battleship on Saturday night before we got to a movie or dinner. LOL, I live in a small town - so shaddup

I think the X-Box will be the thing to kill the PS2 and the new Nintendo. Dreamcast is out the door. Sega just needs to figure out a way to screw it's customers real good before they drop the Dreamcast and move on to the next thing. I guess they need another 32x type thing

I have the gaystaion2 right now. I'm pleased with it (DVD is excellent feature), but most games are worth renting cause you can finish them in 3 days. I'm absolutely randy with anticipation for GT3 though. I'm happy with the purchase - the last console I owned was an SNES.

Xbox does look pretty fancy. Its MS's first go with a console but on the other hand if any company can pull it off first shot its going to be MS.

BTW PC is the ultimate gaming platform - consoles can't touch a PC for most games...the reason I play PS2 and no longer PC games is cause of my wrists, I need to minimize wrist use so I don't get carpal tunnel (sucks). Of course when TF2 comes out my PC is going to get an upgrade and I'll quit my job and get a divorce so that I can properly concentrate on TF2.

Right now I sit on the couch and have the PS2 controller on one side and the Dreamcast controller on the other. Both consoles are on, and I switch between the 2 video inputs on my TV playing both:

1) Play ruins mission on Sky Odyssey for the PS2 - loose altitude after the eathquake and crash.
2) Press Video2 on the remote and play Skies of Arcadia (DC)- toast the Black Pirate ship while guarding the merchant.
3) Press Video1 on remote and try ruins mission again - landslide takes out my right wing and I crash in the tunnel
4) Press Video2 on remote and land on island in Skies, trade protection for Valuan passport with merchant. Upgrade my ship.
5) Press Video1 on remote and finally complete the ruins mission! Get new plane wings for it!

Etc...



Edit/ Forgot to answer the question! I was rooting for the Dreamcast and still will, but mostly I'm hoping for a Sony vs. Nintendo industry. I hate the Xbox so far.

!! I rented SKy oddysey a few days ago - i've done most adventures the only problem is with the CLOUDS one where they have all these storm clouds, I can't make it into the eye without dying. Grr

XBox3. They finally got over the heat issues and made the device small enough to fit under my TV. All the crappy games that the XBox 1 and 2 had are gone now that Microsoft killed off 90% of the console development market. The controllers are much better now, being they are modeled after of the PS4 and GC2 (thank God the XBox 2.5 killed off those suckers). The best part is, now that Sony and Nintendo are gone, and Sega is Microsoft's bitch we don't have to worry about all that silly freedom to choose stuff. One console, one company, one way! Thank you Microsoft!!!
