i think she should go to jail and get the maximum sentense for all accounts that she can be convicted of. she should of just took it like an adult and called off the wedding if she had second thoughts. Not run away like a baby... look at this article with the treatment shes getting?!?!

OMG!

Wilbanks boarded her plane wearing a new FBI hat, blazer, polo shirt and pants and carrying a new tote bag and teddy bear, a gift from the aviation police chief. She flew first-class and said she planned to name the bear ?Al,? for Albuquerque.

?Law enforcement is really making a major move to deal with people in crisis,? Albuquerque Police Chief Ray Schulz said Sunday. ?Miss Wilbanks was definitely a person in crisis.?

person in crisis, i hope she goes to jail!

if anything i feel bad for the person who was going to be the husband for the humiliation he must be feeling.

I think that she was smart. SHe planned a huge wedding and the whole celebration had too much momentum. If she wanted out, this was the only way that she could figure out to do it. I think that she was smart to back out when she did.

yea but running away on buses? thats not smart if she wanted out she could of just admitted to the husband it was a bad idea. The people she owes money to are not going to pull their costs b/c of all this publicity. Plus she spent even more money to run away that could of went towards paying for the planning that she can't back down on. surely most of the preparation for the wedding specially one of the size she was supposed to have was prepared the week of the wedding. shes so stupid IMO.

Why thank you very much.
In her mind, she knew no other way to get out of it. She was almost certainly too afraid to tell anyone how she felt, so this was her only escape. It was better to get out of it than to go through with it if she didn't feel comfortable about it.

Imagine if your her fiance in this situation. The girl you've been living with the past five years runs away just before the wedding and you're immediately suspected of having something to do with her disappearance and are subjected to a police lie detector test and are being asked to subject yourself to a Georgia Bureau of Investigations lie detector test. Then your fiance shows up in New Mexico and says she was kidnapped and then finally admits that she ran away.

Sucks to be him.

I did hear one good point this morning though. The big wedding may not have been her idea. It may have been her family's or her future husband's and she couldn't deal with it. 600 guests, 12 bridesmaids, 12 grooms, 8 bridal showers, etc etc.

edit: Oh, and this girl doesn't even have to go to jail to be punished. She's going to be punished with this everyday for the rest of her life. I drive by her parent's house on my way to and work from work everyday. Their yard was full of cars of friends, family, and supporters last week. There were TV and radio crews all over Duluth as well. I heard the dad on the radio giving a press conference about his daughter's disappearance and could hear the mother absolutely wailing in grief in the background. The dad finally broke down crying and went to console the mother while someone else spoke for the dad.

This woman is going to be feeling a whole lot of guilt from her family and community.

Why? She did not initiate the search and obviously did not want to be found. The only crime I see that she committed was the 911 false report.

If I were the guy, that would be my signal to call it off and go find someone else.

I do find it ironic that we're calling her an attention whore, despite the fact that she faked this kidnapping because of all the attention she'd receive at a lavish wedding.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't, I guess. :)

I heard the a prosecuter on Georgia is debating pressing charges on her for the false report. I hope she spends some time in jail for her stupidity.

She's a weak person.

We should just send her a bill for all the time the FBI and law enforcement agencies wasted looking for her.
