The typical modern fans suck!

I've never really had anything go wrong in my computers, but fans are different story.

40mm fans on slot 1 PIII cooler became loud after about a year
40mm fan on external enclosure started to grind after about a month
60mm fan on Athlon Slot A became loud after about a year
80mm case fan started to make noise after a few years

They all have two things in common.
1. What the heck is that brand name?
2. Made in China

Yeah. I just had a CPU fan stop--the same day I installed it. I'm glad I had it on a temp monitor, and it started going nuts, so I knew about it. No more cheap UV fans for me. I went with two DTB (Delta Triple Blade) fans from sidewinder.com.

Making noise after a few years is understandable to me.

I'll bet that not a one of them was a top name, dual ball-bearing fan... If you want good fans, you will usually throw away CPU fans, PSU fans, factory equipment case fans and replace them all with top end stuff.

This seems like a thread I've seen before so... The ATF frowns on shotgun posting.

Nexus, Panaflo, Papst, Yate loon, Globe.

Those are fans worth spending money on, i wouldn't buy a delta ever (WTF would you need that much CFM?), nor would i use a no name fan in my case (or another thermaltake fan)

And except for the Papst, BobtheLost is naming relatively quiet fans, not necessarily high-quality fans. It is relatively easy to make a sleeve bearing fan to be fairly quiet. Most of those mentioned can't push much air.
. Delta, Sanyo, NMB/Matsushita, Nidec, Papst and perhaps a few others make top quallity fans with close-tolerance ball-bearings.

OP,
Sorry, I misspoke. I guess I noticed this thread over the weekend sometime and failed to respond then.

I don't know where you can get them wholesale in less than carton quantities. Those companies do more OEM stuff, than for consumers. You just have to go to the mfr's web sites, find the model you want and use the web search tools to find them in small quantities. Each of those companies do have mfr's reps/distributors here, but you definitely won't like the prices...
. Places like sidewindercomputers.com, bgmicro.com, thermalfx.com, et al. carry odd lots of these fans. What sizes are you looking for in particular? Just by luck I came across a deal on Sanyo (120x38mm, 5-13.6VDC, 0.52 Amp, 6.25 Watts, 105 CFM max., 39 dB max) fans, so if you need/want a few of those, PM me.

allelectronics.com has new PIII HSF for $2.50, the 40x10mm BB fans are made in Taiwan.
They have Sanyo Denki in 40 and 60mm for<<$5. These are very high quality BB fans that undervolt very well. No vibration, clicking or ticking.
They have some 80s but you will have to search for info on them. Delta, Toyo iirc.
The Papst 92x32mm fans i bought from them are clicking monsters and will not be used by me on anything. They run smooth but click on a Sunbeam Rheobus.
For really sweet running 92x32s 55cfm and undervolt very well, go to sidewinder and check out the Sanyo Denki in this size. The Delta Triples offered here are good stuff. Sidewinder also has a very low flow NMB in 80mm for cheap.

Aparently you have no knowledge of the Delta Triple Bladed fans. I have these in 92x38 and 92x25. They start/run at 3.5V. Do not vibrate or click ever! They have tight fitting, quality ball bearings and all have a tach/sensor wire.
The 92x38 @ 57cfm is on my XP-90. Fantastic fan! Quiet @ 7V.
