I will probably see this movie 6 times in the theatre. I would just love to get this now to watch. It certainly won't effect me going to see it later. I love LOTR and it MUST be seen in the theatre. I don't care if the first time I see it is in the theatre.

If I could get my hands on it, which I prolly could if I tried hard enough...I wouldn't watch it. Why not just hold off and watch the movie when it comes out and get the full experience....
Thats like eating crackers before you go out to eat because "you have to have something"......man i h8 those people

Yes, SVCD's can look that good but saying they look just as good as a DVD is quite a stretch.

DVD's are 720x480, and every single of those 480 vertical pixels are used because it's anamorphic...no wasted resolution. SVCD is only 480x480 and it's non-anamorphic so for a really wide movie you maybe have only 300 pixels of vertical resolution...not very much. Also artifacts start appearing and stuff like that.

It's good, but not as good as you make it out to be. Swapping the CD 3 times isn't that fun either. I needn't mention surround sound.

Well most of the time you swap the disk twice. That is not much more than FOTR special edition will be. You will have to swap it once. Doing it twice isn't that big of a deal. As for your anamorphic. I don't have a setup that can take advantage of that anyways so that is a non-point to me. I just want to enjoy the movie. New Line will get their money out of me at the theatre so they have nothing to worry about when it comes to me.

Well he was talking about Star Wars, which is 3 discs, thats why i said that. And LOTR SVCD was 4 discs :Q
Even if you don't have a progressive scan TV, DVD will still look better than SVCD. By a long shot.

Of I totally agree that a DVD will look better. :) But personally, if the svcd is encoded correctly then I would be happy with it until december when I get to see it for real.

Kami umm dood, they finished filming 2 years ago, the entire trilligy was shot then, there have been no reshoots sense, special effects and editing of all the movies happened at the same time aswell, they have been done for about 8 months now, in other words all the movies are done locked in a vault at the bottem of the ocean. they arn't working on SFX they arn't editing, their done. what they are working on now is some marketing material, such as special editions and directors cuts, and putting together the print material to go with it. I've got some friends who work / worked on the project and all this comes from them. as for the movie being leaked, it could be...but I dought it...they probably got their hands on one of the unrefined copies or reels that were thrown out, it happens, oh well.
Narzy how dare you insult my LOTR knowledge. You DO know how obsessed I am right?

These "friends of yours" live in some fantasy world :p

Yes they finished filming a while ago.
Yes there have been reshoots this year (my god Peter Jackson has said this in NUMEROUS interviews)
Yes they are doing all post-production in between each film (special effects, etc.) - as for editing, they continue to change it til last minute. Hell, look at how many scenes from the previous trailers didn't make it into the final film.
Yes you are totally wrong. :p
post production wrapped up 8 months ago, as I said they are still working on marketing material. what was shot on the special features is 1.5 to 2 years old. shun me for having friends in high places on the editing team of LOTR. the special effects being worked on are for the directors cuts of the film. it would be VERY costly if they were to drag the project on as you suggest. some frames have been re rendered with more modern tecniques but the films are done, and in valt.

Are you saying ROTK is done too?

WETA Digital doesn't have to have their final special effects done til October 6th, so PJ and the editors have time to integrate it all into the actual movie.

Post production wrapped up 8 MONTHS AGO?!?! Then explain to me why the behind the scenes preview of the two towers was filmed only about 6 months ago, which showed PJ giving us a tour of the motion capture studio and stuff like that.

They filmed for 15+ months and wrapped up around the end of 2000 I believe, at which point they started working on Fellowship's post production, which took them almost a year. Stuff like miniatures was all part of the filming process, I am just talking about stuff like special effects, editing, and audio mixing.

The films are not in the vault. Would you like me to find some articles about PJ talking about the re-shoots he did THIS SUMMER? Or if you would've watched the MTV Movie Awards you would've seen him speaking about this very thing (since he accepted his award in New Zealand since he was too busy filming. Your "friends" are pullin' your leg. Please stop talking this crap!! :p

I bet this movie will suck even more than the first one. I know that I aint gonna spend any of my hard earned money to see it in a theater or even waste my bandwidth downloading it.

Personally I'd never get into a LotR shouting match with kami unless I had some very good information.
Good luck narzy. :p

Has anyone here actually seen this supposed leaked film?

Only thing I can find is mislabeled other movies... I think this is a bunch of bulls* written by a misinformed writer.
