The tsunami brought me hope in humanity again

Just turn on Fox, and your lack of hope will be restored. Was watching yesterday, and they were laughing and joking the whole segment, and using it to bash the UN.

when you are in need, a helping hand is a helping hand. i just wish people would remember this when things get back to "normal." crises are a reason to forget petty differances, but then so is a sunrise.

Maybe if the UN had not tried to bash the US.....

I think the UN has the right to bash the US considering what we are doing in Iraq.

Either Bush doesn't know anyother words or he is in some way going to turn this "coalition" into an Iraqi war thing:

President Bush said Wednesday the United States, India, Australia and Japan have formed an international coalition to coordinate worldwide relief and reconstruction efforts for the Asian region ravaged by a deadly earthquake and tsunamis.

Bush was nyuking it up all throughout that "news conference". These natural disasters must be hilarious to him.

Let's hope he can hold this coalition together better than the other one!

It is just amazing how the whole world is responding to the crisis, how even old enemies are working together for example in Sri Lanka. The response is why I belive we have survived for so long through every tragedy after another.

Personally it brings me hope in NATURE again: she WILL, from time to time, wipe out the excess baggage. Chalk up 67,000 points off our OverPopulation total! 🙂

I think the US has the right to bash the UN considering their complete and utter failure to lay the smack down on nations who reject the idea that individuals have inalienable rights.

Oh, but then, the majority of the UN's member nations don't recognize individual rights, so I guess that makes it OK, eh?

That was utterly and completely uncalled for.

Congrats on being an asshat.

If I were a mod you'd be banned for life for making perhaps the most ignorant comment ever posted on this forum. I can think of 1 point I'd like to remove from our "overpopulation" total now.

That's the type of thing that makes me sick to see. I see it here too. Too much joking around about people dying and being killed.

It's not an *ignorant* comment, it's a *rude* comment 🙂 This is P&N, get over it.

My boss's brother and his wife and two little girls are missing in Khao Lak, the worst hit area in Thailand. 🙁

What a horrible thing to say about all those people. I'm glad that most if not all of their relatives will never be aware of your ugly thoughts and words.

This was a serious question, why was france not called stingy for only giving 150k. Why did the UN not publically call them stingy? The US is currently giving 30-40M, plus two naval battle groups to provide hospital support, not mention what will be donated by private citizens. The US will be providing the bulk of the assistance and we get slammed for it.

I think this board just killed Czar's hopes in humanity.

By the way, what are you talking about old enemies working together in Sri Lanka? It says the rebels haven't received any help from the government and other news sources say the two sides are using this incident to attack one another and gain political points. The government there is routing aid to its controlled areas and the Tamil rebels have had to appeal to the world community itself to get aid.
