Until Chinese or other cheaper competitors enters and ruins your market HARD prompting to block them at least in the country, destroying the image of the Capitalism turning into an Olygarchy.

However outside the country the destiny is being set, and that's because Oligarchs can't compete since they just want to be on a comfort area, and since that is destroyed, well, they can't react.

But there is also continued pricing in of uncertainty. Trump has shown himself to be... fickle.

The other issue is suppliers leave markets when tariffs go up, and it takes time for those additional ones to reenter, if they ever do.

I've seen this pattern so many times in so many unrelated fields, from finance to bread. As long as no one blinks we gonna keep the prices jacked up and pocket the difference.

Well, yeah. But it is also one of the big problems with market consolidation. Fewer players, easier to keep prices up. However, for at least some goods, there is always a solution: don't buy it, or buy a substitute item.

Yes, the really wealthy people understand this to a degree. However, they may not realize that their global companies that sell things domestically rely on imports and foreign markets. Tariffs will drag on the economy and harm their overall wealth in the long run. I think it's high time for people to realize that someone having an obscene amount of money doesn't actually mean that person is "smart" (ie, the ultra rich obsession with building bunkers).

JFC! ... Has any of his handlers told him that the tariffs are actively being argued in the Supreme Court, and the administration's stance is the tariffs are not taxes and not there to generate revenue and are only tools for the executive branch to use as leverage in trade negotiations?

So in actuality, the tariffs will be an adjustable-rate tax, based on the whims of a madman? Got it! Every day a new fucking gimmick. Their internal polling must be terrible to tell this lie. They are going to end federal taxes right after you get your DOGE, and tariff checks.

Trump's mythical view of economics will eventually catch up with the American people as the economy sinks lower and lower. After 10 years of this shit, it STILL amazes me how stupid Trump thinks his supporters are.

So today on this very forum I was called a "BURDEN ON SOCIETY" by a member here because I was at a food bank recently.

Anything to call me names rather than try and understand Cooking Oil was $8 under Obama.. went to $16 under Trump's COVID inflation and is now $40 + tax = $44 thanks to TARIFFS.

That's a 550% increase over Obama prices! And my salary has not gone up 550% from then.

That's not a price I can absorb without food aid. And interestingly cooking oil prices have not hit that high in the rest of the world.

It's not the apocalypse but the MAGA Republicans are deliberately creating inflation to blame it on the dems.

Someday you're going to have to come to grips with the reality, they don't want or need your help or your "union, democracy and liberalism".

They always create an artificial problem first just so they can present a solution. Except their solution is to destroy democracy so they can rule the US forever.

Give me half a country over that shit ANYDAY!
