Trump was supposed to just stick it to those annoying city slickers and the bad hombres who live in the city, not the exploited workforce they use to harvest their crops.
He certainly wasn’t supposed to blow up the farmers biggest foreign markets

Reminds me of this guy who (if memory serves) owned some shoe company and before the election he was like 'I'm voting for Trump because he will fix the economy!' Then Trump came in and destroyed his business to which he responded 'why is the government destroying my business?'

So when he thought it was good it was Trump, when it turned out to be bad it was 'the government', as if Trump wasn't running it. They're emotionally attached to Trump so they find ways to twist themselves into knots to keep those uncomfortable 'what if Trump is bad' thoughts at bay.
