Important Notice for Our U.S. Customers
Thank you so much for always placing orders from
soposopo.com. This time, although we have been working hard, we have very unfortunate news. We pray for changes in the future, but unfortunately we have this kind of announcement for now.
Effective
August 29, 2025 at 12:01 AM (Eastern Daylight Time), the U.S. government will officially end the
de minimis exemption for imports under $800. As a result,
all imports—regardless of value—will require customs clearance and be subject to duties. This change applies to all U.S.-bound orders, whether purchased by individuals, companies, or retailers.
This notice is based on information available as of
August 8, 2025 at 5:00 AM (Eastern Daylight Time).
IMPORTANT: Please read the following information in full before placing your order.
Place Your Order Early
According to current law, shipments arriving in the United States by
August 29, 2025 will still qualify for duty-free entry.
However, due to expected shipping delays and customs congestion, we are setting a
safe arrival date of August 27, 2025.
To meet this deadline, please
place your order no later than August 15, 2025.
For U.S. customers who order by August 15, we will make every effort to deliver your shipment by the safe arrival date to avoid duties.
New Policy Details
- The duty rate for imports from the EU (including Finland) has been set at a firm 15%.
- In addition, from August 29, 2025 through the end of February 2026, a temporary flat-rate duty system will apply:
• $80 / $160 / $200 per item, depending on the product’s country of origin
• Duties are charged at a fixed amount regardless of product price, meaning lower-priced items may bear a disproportionately higher duty rate
Certainty of Implementation
This policy change is based on a
Presidential Executive Order signed on July 30, 2025 and is not expected to be reversed before the effective date.
However, as President Trump has previously altered or withdrawn tariff policies, we cannot completely rule out future changes. At present, the above reflects the
official U.S. government announcement.
Disclaimer
We are not responsible for any duties incurred if a shipment arrives late due to shipping delays, customs processing, or any other factors beyond our control.
All duties and fees imposed upon import will be the responsibility of the customer.
To avoid unexpected duty charges, we strongly recommend placing your order as early as possible.
Since we have many American customers in our business, we believe this will have an impact. If you could cooperate with us, we would be truly grateful if you could place your order by the 15th.
If you need products from Finland, please note that these duties are expected to remain in place going forward. We therefore recommend considering a bulk purchase now, or placing multiple orders by August 15 to minimize the impact.
We would like to continue working hard in the future, so please continue to support us.
Also, this year has seen record-breaking heat waves around the world. Even here in Finland, it has apparently been the hottest year on record. Please take care of your health and have a wonderful summer.
Sincerely
soposopo.com team
Fucking great. Middle of August is the best time ever to order chocolate from overseas, and the knäckbröd I was gonna get this fall isn't even available yet. I guess I'll just have to buy US salmiak and julknäck. I assume someone here has a link for that :^S
