It's like a game of competitive self-harm

UK: Brexit
US: Trump 1
UK: I see your Trump and raise you a Liz Truss budget
US: Trump 2, now with tariffs - match that!

Our turn next - fully expecting a Farage government at the next election.

As you know I'm into European football.. I post a bit on the sports forum and they have a politics section.. found this gem today..

That's good but also corporate America still seems to be trump friendly.

- The problem with these morons is they all think they're smart and hot shit, basically mini-Trumps unto themselves.

Prosperity gospel has infected the American mindset, they think "I am worth 50 Billion dollars on paper" suddenly means they are one phone call away from solving the world's problems with their big brain ideas, no need to panic.

The concept of humility, of understanding their limits, recognizing the sandy foundations of their ivory towers, these things are beyond them.

Recognizing the importance of who they are or were as integral functioning members of society became redundant the moment they realized that their wealth gave them the inalienable right to operate outside the limits of being members of a society or culture had once burdened them with. They were now of the opinion that they didn't have to follow any rules if they were the ones making them up.

Elon Musk is a perfect example.

Unfortunately our friends in CO and NM are stuck in Jesusland.

Don't see that that's unavoidable. Arizona's a bit disputable, but with it, it's all contiguous with California.

Interesting that that page points out an alternative map puts Alberta in Jesusland, as it has occurred to me with respect to Trump's mutterings about 'redrawing the border' and 'annexing Canada' that Alberta could go the other way (from what I know of it, having relatives there, it kind of seems like Canada's version of Texas). Perhaps throw that in in return for Arizona, so you could avoid an enclave situation with New Mexico?

Jesusland is just a meme from 2004; but in reality, there is no functional way to carve up the U.S. States are not exclusively red or blue, nor do the swing states stay constant over time.

I live in California, a deep blue state, but let's look at it quickly. Trump got only 38% of the statewide vote last November, but that's 6M voters (and their families). Do they want to join Canada? Or are we swapping them (against their wills) with (D) voters from Jesusland?

In a hypothetical world, I'd love to join Denmark or Canada. Sign me up! But in the real world, it's not feasible except in the wildest imaginations.

Apparently behind closed doors they are panicking. Just to afraid to come out publicly and say it.

Some corporate bosses say they believe they can have more of an impact in talks behind closed doors, rather than in public. They worry public criticism will make them a target of the president’s bully pulpit and prompt him to dig in, not retreat, from his tariff agenda, they say.

“I’ve been struck by how fearful people are and how unwilling they are to speak out. That has just not been true in the past,” said Bill George, a former CEO of medical-device company Medtronic, who remains in touch with executives across industries. “They don’t want to get on the wrong side of the president and his constituents.”

CEOs Don’t Plan to Openly Question Trump. Ask Again If the Market Crashes 20%.

A synthesizer I preordered in December at $599 just had the new listing price bumped to $689 (a bunch of music gear just got increased in price).

Yeah just saw a notice today from FiiO, who makes lots of audio gear for enthusiasts, prices are going up 20% shortly.

Talked to my favorite high end IEM/Headphone Equipment store, they are gonna raise all prices by 6% soon.

I just sold some gear and just bought stuff to replace from them today. Getting in before the price hikes.

Glad I upgraded my camera and lenses this past Fall, and have no big purchases of stuff planned. What a shitshow. Thanks Republicans and Trump voters. Hope y'all get what you voted for.

So, can I send copies of my invoices, with tariff charges clearly noted, to Trump, or do I send them to China to get my refund on those charges? He says it isn't coming out of my pocket? *confused*

There's no going back. You gotta remove them from the country.

There needs to be accountability.. you can't pretend that was just a "mistake" because anything dems build.. they will destroy.

You have to completely destroy MAGA first!

Only have 2 options.. deport them or let the country divorce!

I dunno about you but I don't feel safe having them nextdoor.

You can have accountability without deportation or national divorce. But it requires that the people that later come into power a) no be afraid of serious reform, b) want to hold people accountable, and c) are not afraid to use the power they have been entrusted with

Trade them PA for AZ, NM, CO and NV.

And how would any of this work? MAGA aren't just 100% in one spot. Some states are 60/40 D/R, or vice versa.

And then you also end up with a country that is super majority fascist expansionary next door. That doesn't seem like a great thing.

They can fucking move.

Seriously at this point.. you have people walking barefoot through Central America trying to get to America for a better life and you're telling me some fat ass MAGA's can't load up their Hummers with their junk and move to Texas to be next to other Trumpanzees?
