Trump set a trap and just stepped right into it. Boggles my mind that he said 124% on China, everybody else gets a temporary reprieve. Maybe he'll rescind on China, but he's making it hard to look like doing so is anything but a game of chicken that he lost crosseyed.

I don't see Don's sons having MAGA loyalty. When I say Trump as an outsider, I mean an outsider, not someone with influence. He may spend some time not dead but lacking the ability to be influential due to obvious dementia.

I don't think he cares that the rest of the world thinks he's an idiot, we've done that since the first term. But maybe some backers in the shadows are getting unruly.

EU would really prefer a sane US president to fight against China, as they have no love for China. But they have even less respect for Trumps politics.

That isn't just maybe. The still-living Koch brother and Elon have publicly chafed at the tariffs in recent days. People that haven't are either keeping quiet or fulfilling their roles as MAGA acolytes. It was said on network TV news tonight that last night some close to him in his cabinet explained to him that the beating the US was getting in the bond market was more than an ominous warning that he better back down. He tried to make it appear to not be a capitulation saying that dozens of countries were calling him to make deals. I don't know where the standoff with China is going but if it remains as is, IMO a major recession is certain.

Because they are using their soft power to get influence all over the world which does not align with our values, and at a certain point they might no longer only use soft power...Taiwan as a first.

But as Trump has also threatened to take territory with force, it and European allied territory no less, then China was actually the lesser evil, even as a communist dictatorship.

Obviously I cannot speak for everyone, but as an American you should feel welcome in Europe, but you really have to stop electing idiots as presidents. 😛

To me it's a matter of principles. Do we want all people all around the world to be free and live accordingly to human rights. Should they be able to have free elections and decide their own fate or should we accept the rule of tyrants.

We as Europeans and our Western descendants have a history of doing really bad things, but moving forward we should strive to do better for humanity.

We need the world to see that our ways is the best. I live a peaceful, secure, prosper and free life where I can express my self with fear of retaliation, I can vote for the politicians I deem best, I can access information freely etc.

I want everyone in the world to have what I have.

The United states have had that role for decades, but now it is over, and we will have to see if EU or some some countries can take over the role.
