Apparently, House GOP leadership is looking to have a big ol turd in the budget rules of the House to block any votes on the fake national emergency until September. They just have Trump's hand so far up their ass.

My roomates favorite store is the Dollar Tree, I suspect it'll be the Ten Dollar Tree once Trump's done with his failed bullying of China.

I saw a quick Dave Chappell clip on Facebook regarding tariffs. He said “I want to wear my Nikes not make them”.
“I don’t want a Chinese job, keep them there”.

Simple but on target.
For the record as I have said I do not think tariffs are a bad idea, I do think those tariffs need a plan, a purpose and a goal. We appear to have none of that in what’s happening today.

I’m a Gen Xer. There are an enormous number of entitled Reaganite happy heads and douchebag frat boys in Gen X. Kavanaugh is the embodiment of Gen X values and worldview.
Yes we grew up being told by our boomer parents that Greed is good. Fuck my generational peers who still believe that shit.

Lot of people about to learn why you don’t mess with options if the Trump cave and rally is real. Glad I got my tax loss harvesting in at the bottom. I might sell some equities at close if it keeps up to pay my 2024 tax bill rather than pull from my cash pile.

As I recall this 10% during negotiations was what Bessent had pushed to him before he went with the nuts option.

Yeah no one is going to care about Dumbo's on and off tariffis.
I think they care, they will just come to the (correct) conclusion that the US is so unstable and unreliable now that they should plan to decouple from our economy no matter what Trump decides. After all it's entirely possible he reimposes them all tomorrow, or this afternoon.

As I've been saying for years the problem is we can no longer make credible commitments. There is no point in making a trade deal with the US when you have no confidence that the US will adhere to the terms.

China at 125% and EU at 20% with the rest of the world at 10% is still going to majorly raise prices on everything. Consumers will still get hit and are going to be angry.

People gonna be like to me "are you getting back into equities now?"

The only thing I'd consider right now is either selling more as stuff recovers, in anticipation of the next shit show, or continuing to have low price limit buy orders for the next collapse.
Now it recovered Wall Street by 5%. heck, something is cooking now.

Also... 125% tariff to China? Lol!
It doesn't matter how high they go. After a certain percent, it's basically a de facto trade ban.

Not only are we not agreeing to trade deals previously negotiated by the government, we're not even abiding by the ones Trump negotiated with. How quickly he's taken US credibility and just tossed it into the shredder.
