Yep. It's not like American whisky is the only one, there are whisky producers all over the world, and if you switch, it's not like you miss on something.

This is a huge big deal! And not in a good way…

Jim Beam to halt distillation at Clermont location in 2026

Industry group Distilled Spirits Council of the United States said that U.S. spirits exports plummeted 85 percent, falling below $10 million in the second quarter of 2025, which CEO Chris Swonger blamed on “persistent trade tensions.”

Swonger warned the figures signaled “a shift away from our great American spirits brands” and urged Trump “to help facilitate a lasting return to tariff-free trade with our longstanding trading partners.”

Over the last decade and a half bourbon and rye whiskey exploded in popularity in the US and abroad. Companies seeing the demand invested enormous sums in expansion of distillation and aging facilities. Depending the product you might be looking at 8-10 years before the more profitable lines started to hit the shelves in greater quantity (about where we are now). This has coincided with a natural decrease in demand as other products are coming more in favor, decreased willingness of even hardcore enthusiasts to pay bigger markups, and Trump wrecking the export market. In short an absolute shit storm for this business.

Other countries may find they like other spirits more than bourbon, and sales will never return to pre tariff levels. I know if I was Canadian, bourbon would be on my permanent 'get fucked' list.

Fuck them anyways. I looked them up. They have more money to the GOP like almost 60% to the GOP

Hardcore enthusiasts? Really?

Drunkards, D R U N K A R K S spells drunkards!

I see. So Trump single handedly demands the price of medicine increase by 25%.
Dumb ass MAGA think they're not going to be paying that?

That's gotta be fake news from the TDS ran MSM, Trump himself said, because of him medicine prices would be dropping 400-500%

Maybe this 25% is what he's gonna tax big pharma in addition to forcing them to lower the prices 400%. MAGA's voted for this, as I'm sure a whole fucking bunch on X will tell you if you ask them about this.

Sounds like Trump is trying to make his backers from the phama industry happy by trying to squeeze more profit out of the French health system. The French, like the Australians, negotiate at the Federal level on behalf of their entire hospital system for the price of medical drugs.

And sounds like Trump is willing to threaten French trade with a good time to make the phama guys happy.

The thing being that, trade agreement are handled by EU, so anything he tries to do against a single country will be retaliated by the total of EU. No country in EU are allowed to do their own trade agreements.

interesting proposal but i think the leaches will just wait 3 years instead

Due to Trump's hilarious yet America wrecking short-sightedness, the frequent backfiring in his face has got to be the reason why his complexion has this very strange alien unhuman tint to it like he's sitting on his gold gilded flusher in a desperate toe curling teeth gnashing sweaty effort to squeeze out a very stubborn constipated log jam.

I can't see China accepting a defeat when they are already improving their own in house industry. The only way to buy is by recovering the TSMC industry fab. Yeah, going pre 2019.
China is more than willing in buying American hardware if it gives them a chance at popping the AI bubble. Chinese made AI models are strong and they are usually given away for free ('open-weight') partially disrupting OpenAI's attempts of hegemony.
