The Trump Tariffs thread

Can you provide any actual policy/legislation from the Republicans in the past decade that you believe is good? Not just "ideas", actual policy/legislation.

You can't argue logically with people like that and think you'll get your point across.

The problem with logical arguments is that we live in a MAGA world.. not a logical world.

But it is interesting to see the tariff mess spill over into "football" feeds :

Some sort of "framework being announced with the UK today by Trump to goose equities. Reportedly it does not include removal of the 10% tariff on UK products so *insert wet fart noise*.

Meanwhile, Trump seems to have put the final nail in the coffin of America’s traditional agrarian economy. I applaud the results, if not the means. Maybe we might just dilute the MAGA vote share enough by forcing these retarded dimwits off their land and making them to find work in cities and suburbs like the rest of us. One can only hope, because we know for a fact these retards will never stop voting against their own interests. It’ll be slow progress, because they’ll still be getting plenty of red state welfare and living off daddy’s money for a while, but eventually it’ll happen.

/end imaginary evil sneering liberal elite rant against MAGA farmers

How moronic do you have to be, to think Trump is a genius.

The bulk of the MAGA tribe, is literally ignorant morons, that revel in ignorance, and want to outsource thinking to the leader of their tribe.

They could be made homeless by Trump and still think it's a brilliant master plan...

But that's the bulk. There is a layer on top, that are there to enrich themselves off their MAGA dupes. Making their MAGA meme coins an apt macro-example.

Trade deals with Trump aren't worth the used toilet paper they are written on. Even deals he negotiated and got approved by Congress (as trade deals generally require) aren't worth much anymore when Trump can decide he wants to alter the deal because of imagined economic emergencies.

It’s a “concept of a deal”

Being presented here with absurdly rose-tinted glasses. Doesn't seem to be much substance to it, as far as I can make out - it doesn't even remove that new 10% tariff, so still leaves the UK in a worse position than it was before this year. But Starmer has to claim to have achieved some great 'deal', of course.

Haagen Dazs was founded in NYC and has always been an American company. The umlaut was used to fool suckers like you.

now back to ignore for you.
🤔

Dang, why dont people tell me these things!

No wonder the girls were not impressed by my Hagendaas and beard stroking.

He isn't that bad as the other ones.. he's just more "misguided" by the economic stuff the right sells him but clearly the economic guys are waking up to MAGA a lot faster than the koolaid drinking MAGA.

He's just so god damned stupid.

People don't want to horde their money. They want to use their money to buy goods and services. Trade provided a way for people to get those goods (in exchange for money), and the whole system helps to create and support all sorts of jobs that pay money that circulates back into spending...

False. Maybe you see it that way because you've been moving further right/authoritarian.

You can see it how you like it but truth hurts..

I'm a single issue voter.. what can you give me for healthcare?

Do you see the right wingers doing anything better than dems on healthcare in the last 150 years?

So your argument doesn't stand up.

Less economic activity probably is a good thing when you're trying to destroy the middle class so your oligarch buddies can snap up their assets at bargain basement prices.

I feel so bad that my daughter is graduating high school in four weeks in the midst of all this.

Don't feel bad. Guide her for the coming new world.

Tell her the new thing to do is be prepared to be an overseas worker. Help her get ahead of the curve.

For decades people wanted to come to America to work and send money back home to their families. That is going to reverse and there are good salaries overseas.. especially for engineering and tech jobs.

This guy really is so, so fucking stupid.

By this logic of course the best thing the US could do for its economy is close our ports entirely, apparently. Weird that the US invested so much time and resources in things that make us poorer! If only some genius had figured this out earlier!
