The True Odor of Cologne

My wife and I just got back from a trip to Germany and had a great time. Europe as always has so many wonderful things to see.

We spent one afternoon in the Cologne (KOLN) Cathedral where the remains of the three kings who visited baby Jesus are interned. One amazing aspect of the Cathedral was that they allowed us (for a fee of course) to walk to the top of the spire. No small task mind you! However, we were assaulted by the smelly visitors at every turn. My wife's nose almost fell off! It appears that many people are more "organic" than others. Phew! Anyhow the hike was worth it as we got incredible views of the city. However, a visit in the cooler months might have been a better idea.

I know what you mean! In Paris it was pretty bad, especially at old places. Versailles stands out for me - it was a hot day and the place was packed to the brim. Just a difference in culture though.
