2 miners out now, coming out about every 20 minutes. 10 minutes for the basket to go down, and 10 minutes for the ride up.

I lost a brother in law to a mining accident a few years ago and his son is now an underground coal miner. I am specially sensisitve to this rescue, and elated that it is going so well. :)

I'll bet you that the families of the coal miners are relieved to hear that they're all alive.

I grew up in the Wilkes-Barre, Scranton area and I remember when the Susquehanna river broke through the roof of the mines there and flooded them. Lots of mine disasters in the 50s and there about also.

Used to see those poor guys riding home on the buses black with coal dust from head to foot and swore Id never do that!!

As i understand it the mine is located roughly twelve miles from where the airliner with American hero Todd Beamer went down on 9/11
