What I find interesting is that Frank Welker (who voiced Megatron in the first movie) wasn't the voice of Megatron in the original Series. Yet I never heard the difference or noticed. Good Job Mr. Welker.

What are you talking about? Frank Welker WAS the voice for G1 Megatron.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Welker

Megatron, voiced by Frank Welker

In the 1980s, Welker voiced Megatron, Soundwave and his cassettes, the Dinobot Sludge, and Galvatron in place of Leonard Nimoy (Season 3) in the Transformers cartoon. In this he formed a team with Chris Latta, who voiced Starscream, Megatron's second-in-command. In 1988, Welker did the voice of Rulon leader Krulos in the TV-series Dino-riders. In this cartoon he again formed a team with Chris Latta, who (coincidentally?) voiced Rasp, Krulos' second-in-command. In G.I. Joe, Welker also teamed with Latta. (Other actors who featured in Transformers, Dino-riders and G.I. Joe are Jack Angel, Charlie Adler and Peter Cullen.) In a famous goof from Transformers, Soundwave's unmodulated voice was revealed to be nearly identical to that of Dr. Claw of Inspector Gadget

Wikipedia is a good source for information. but a lot of the time i take it with a grain of salt. You never know what wacko is writing the information. When it comes to movie/TV related information i go with IMDB.

imdb

He wasn't the only one to voice Megatron. But I was wrong in saying he didn't voice at all in the series.

Wikipedia never even mentions Earl Hammond.

Wasn't Earl Hammond the voice of megatron in the read along books?

I did find this blurb about Earl Hammond.

linky

But Again its wikipedia. I am inclinded to take IMDB's word over wkipedia since IMDB lists the actual episodes he supposedly voiced in.
Hmm seems IMDB is wrong.

It could be. I will have to refer to the video tape. Season 1 on DVD.

hahah

He wasn't the only one.. don't you think some of them (cough Brawl) could have put up a better fight?

EDIT: and how about when after the movie, they go to the autobot mausoleum and their damaged bodies are falling out of their tombs?

Yeah...it seemed like they were clearing inventory or something: "Let's see, we no longer sell Prowl, Ironhide, etc. Just shoot them in the first 10 minutes".

Its kinda funny because its true. I remember when i was a kid i was so sad that Wheeljack and Ratchet died.

Yeah, supposedly Mom's were hauling kids out of the theater crying. Maybe more due to Prime. I cried at home.. after meltind Megatron down in retribution

Wow, really? I never got to see the movie in theaters. Wasn't born till 88.

Kids crying in theaters, yes. Me, no.. I was more outraged. It was quite a shock.

Oh yeah...I saw it in theaters. Moms were there with their 5 year olds thinking it was a purely kids movie- then the violence and the S word struck. Moms were outraged, kids were truamatized....it wasn't pretty.

Was I the only one more upset about Starscream dying then Prime :)? I know he comes back and back and back but still it wasn't the same without his constant bitching and backstabbing.

I remember seeing this in the theater when I was 6. Great movie, and I was upset that Prime died. Prime should have just blasted Hot Rod as well as Megatron.

Originally Prime was going to stay dead, but due to the response they brought him back at the end of Season 3. However the one episode in Season 3 (Dark Awakening) where they find the Autobot Tomb was planned. Its pretty odd that at the end of that episode Prime is flying a ship toward a sun, missing an arm, and pretty much destroyed. Then in Return of Optimus Prime, hes fine... just dead. Season 3 was odd anyway.

I remember that episode airing and always thought it was a really dark episode for Transformers. Kind of freaked me out when I was little.

I remember that episode. I was about 10 when I saw it, and yeah, it was pretty freaky to see Prime missing an arm and half his face blown off in that episode.
