lol what the fuck, broke a wheel? how the hell does that happen

it got here about ~5-10min late (big thing in train time)

parked behidn the 6pm train..and sat there...even as the 6pm train left...

then we realized the the engineers werre not even in it..

so they start it up and moved it into place....then the conductor

edit: FUk.,.,,...have to switch trains:|

Happens fairly often on freight trains. No sure how often on commuter trains, but I think that would be consistent. Beats a derailment 😉

the conductor gave us TMI too...

"well we want to use the eingine in the back but it's backwards so we can't do that...we'll keep you updated"

few minutes later.....

"folks...go to the other track..this train isn't going anywhere."

To make things worse it was their nice train with the tables and everything🙁

at least my internship ends on Tuesday🙂

They don't carry a spare? On the Oregon Trail I always bought a couple just for situations like this one. And lots of bullets in case you needed to hunt. Damn squirrels!

This one did not end well. (broken wheel; there's a "Seconds from Disaster" about it.

http://www.cnn.com/WORLD/europe/9806/04/germany.train/

true but as i recall from that episode, they eventually decided that it was the fault of the company cause one of the engineers didn't alert the management about the bad wheel. it was a bit lopsided. this caused metal fatigue at the speeds that the ICE travels at. thus, the wheel broke.
