I'm suprized that an intersection near my house isn't on the list. I have two family members that have been plowed into by soccer moms in minivans while waiting at red lights. One has had 3 disk fusion surgeries and is in constant pain, the other has lower back pain and regularly visits a chiropractor.

It's two blocks from where I'm sitting now. I've been living and working here for three years now, and I've NEVER seen an accident there.

They generated thier numbers based on insurance claims. Shortly after they did a program where they spent $100,000 on those 10 intersections to try to save themselves that much in claims. The claims include fender benders where no major damage occurs, but money still gets moved into bodyshops.

Maybe the interesection had been upgraded recently before I moved here, but there's nothing inherently dangerous about that intersection that I can see. It's the same as every other intersection between two 4 lane streets in northern California. The olny odd thing at all is the curb thing seperating lanes when you turn right from Howe (south) onto Fair Oaks, but that's not really dangerous, just odd.

Yeah, I drive through the Plano, TX one when going to the mall there. I didn't think it is really dangerous, but the whole thing is just so *wide* and without markings, I could see how people could get confused and inadvertantly change lanes.

Wow, no New York intersections. There are some pretty crazy intersections in NYC too, but with adequate traffic control here, I guess it's not that dangerous.
