The Time Traveler's Wife

I read the book twice so far in the year, and it's definitely one of my favorite books of all time. I don't expect much from movie adaptations, but this one looks somewhat promising. Not sure when it's supposed to come out (looks like they pushed the date back), except that it should be sometime this year.

EDIT:
August 14th, 2009 release date

I thought it was a great book and I could see McAdams in the female role (not so much for Bana). The movie looks promising, but with Benjamin Button already toying the premise of love and time, I wonder if this movie will come off as trying to ride that wave for those who never read the book.

I told my wife the book was basically an X-Men novel and the lead character was a mutant pedophile and she got so pissed. LOL.

wife fucking cried rain when she read this book, I thought she was mad at me or something lol

She was, you just failed to realize it. I'm sorry.

Actually she had just gotten a call from her doctor confirming she has Herpes a few minutes before you saw her. I'm sorry.

Bump for August 14th release date. I saw part of the commercial on TV - I didn't realize it was being released in just over 2 1/2 weeks.
I'm not expecting it to be the best movie ever, but it will be a good movie if they stuck relatively closely to the book.

saw the commercial too, looked intriguing.

I've been seeing the trailer on tv this weekend. If it's half as good as the book, it will be a decent movie.

I knew I shouldn't have watched the theatrical trailer, it gives too much away (I know what happens, but still). It does look good, though.

For people who haven't read the book, I would recommend not watching the trailer online.

chick flick?

although that chick is so hot

Well, yeah, it is a bit. It should still be enjoyable for us guys, though.
The story is good, and it's not overly romantic (at least not in the stereotypical way) as much as it is the struggles Henry (as an unwilling time traveler) and Clare (as someone who cares for Henry and knew him nearly her whole life) have to go through at different points and times in their lives.

I typically read sci-fi and fantasy, but I very much enjoyed this book which was really neither, despite the chrono element.

I haven't read this book, but I will probably check it out. Based on the description, if you liked this you will probably also like Replay by Ken Grimwood.
