The Time Machine

Saw the trailers for the remake and remembered how much I loved the original. Got the DVD in today, and now I'm looking forward to a flashback.🙂 Any of you seen the original? By today's standards, it's pretty low tech but when it was released it was a marvel.

Is this the right movie? I remember this guy landing in a city in the future, and air sirens started going off. He had landed in a English city during WWII. I want to say he made it back to his machine (which looked like it had an umbrella spending really fast on the back...) and left before the bombs hit.

From what I saw I liked it a lot, and never saw the rest of it (though I have seen bits and pieces of that movie several times, but never the whole thing from beginning to end). Was that enough of a description? That the original?

bruno: thats the right movie, i love that original, i hope this new one can live up to the original. I have read Time Machine, War of the Worlds, and the Invisible Man tons of time, HG Wells was a master of the written word.

Aside from the fact that its a Wells story, Guy Pierce is in it (watch Memento) and you will be fascinated by this man's acting. He rocks! Can't wait.

How much for the dvd?

Did you know that the new movie is directed by Wells' great-grandson? I find that really cool. Hope its good, looks to be cool. I

I think it looks good, but I think the blue people in the original look better than the new one. The new ones just don't look all that freaky like they did when I watched it as a kid 🙂

i saw it a few years ago on amc and thought it was pretty good. the only thing i didn't like was how the part with the underground monsters and aboveground dumbasses took up most of the movie. (i really wanted to beat the S out of those aboveground dumbasses, or at least see them all die)

I've seen the original once or twice, thought was pretty good.

I'm gonna go see the remake soon, I hope its better than the Planet of the Apes remake....

Can't wait to see it. The trailers look like the movie balances the right amount of Special Effects with story. Guy Pearce I think is perfect for Hartdegen. No delorean or Flux capacitor though.... 😉

Booyeah! I forgot what a stone cold fox Yvette Mimieux was.

wow, russ, we didn't think you had normal human feelings like that🙂

and i can't say i remember seeing the original very well, but i do know i thought it was incredibly cool, so i hope i can just walk out of the theater thinking the same thing for this one🙂
