The time is almost here...

Alright... with me having a little less than 10 hours left before my court hearing... I'm slowly starting to get nervous. I am appearing to fight my "55 in a 40" ticket tomorrow. I know I'm going to get flamed about the whole speeding thing, but come on... you all were young once and had fun. Basically... I've learned from my mistake and I am going to ask the judge if he can put me under advisement. This process sets up a block of time from the court date... say like 6 months... and if I get no violations during this period, the ticket disappears. I would still have to pay the $110 fine for the ticket plus court fees. If the judge isn't happy with this, I'm going to offer to make a charitable contribution to a charity of his choice or offer to attend a driving school paid by me. Does anyone have any good words of wisdom to help me out a little bit here?

Ask the judge for 30 or 90 days probation MAX, along with the fine.
6mths is too long.
Forget that idea you had about the charity thing, its an insult.
Best of luck, hope he/she goes easy on ya.😉

heh, my only ticket was for going 44 in a 25... I got 20 hours of community service (working on computers with a friend of mine at school, Ooooo) and a $60 fine...

I thought they pity you when you cry if you are a woman, but laugh when you are a guy?

Wha? Courts give out community service with speeding tickets?!

If you don't have money to pay the fine, sometimes the court will allow you to do community service.

If you can go to traffic court to get the ticket expunged, then why even bother with probation? That's what you go for first. You take the class (lose 1 Saturday in the process), and the ticket is permanently removed from your record. Much easier to lose 1 Saturday than have to worry about getting any kind of moving violation for 6 months.

California Juvenille court... I opted for community service, because I had been the aid to the technology Coordinator at my H.S. All I did was what I did every day for the past year, and got it written off as community service...

Well if my car wasn't broken into at the end of January this year... I wouldn't have gotten caught. God I miss that radar detector.

Can't hurt to try... is this the only offense on your record? That will make a difference. Also, try to arrive early and speak to the officer before going before the judge, ask if he will support that the judge take it under advisement.

I did this and it actually worked out OK, the cop agreed and when my case came up I didn't even have to speak, the officer actually asked for the advisement plea, so I only had to pay court cost & keep my record clean for 1 year (I don't recall if I had to pay for ticket itself, I think I did).
