I just got back from the UPS store. I walk into the store and she asks "XBOX?" and I say yup. Its just amazing to me that the UPS people see these 360 coffins so often that they automatically know when someone is bringing in a dead 360. Its just so funny to me.

Since MS didn't want to fix mine for free, I decided I would try one of those X-Clamp replacement kits. Found one on Amazon for about $10.00. Opening it up was a bit of a pain, but a couple hours later, with minimal amount of blood loss, it's up and running again.

My 16 month old Elite just succumbed to the dreadful RROD..... Now just to wait for my buddy's roommate to get back to I can have a little fun. His TV has been craping out so I just want to see the look on his face when he thinks he has a RROD lol.

Just a follow up. Microsoft sent me a new...well refurbished 360 they had laying around. I don't understand why they just didn't give me one of the newer ones with HDMI because this one they sent me is probably going to RROD as well.

From what I gather they don't really "upgrade" people ever. So you send them a box with chipset 'A' they send you one back with the same chipset. I agree they are just more prone to breaking, but they probably figure they're better off sending them out then disposing of the millions of broken ones.

did you get a new power supply too?

reportedly Microsoft been slowly sending out the opus revision. I've read where its only have 3rd rrod replacement but who knows.

I'm too lazy to really look into since it doesn't apply to me. I've had two 360 die on me but since then nothing. knowing my luck the one that's out of the 3year will die soon and the 2nd one will die soon after its 3 year warranty for rrod is up.
