1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.

CSS, CSS:GO, school work

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread

$625

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.

USA

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc.

Nah

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.

monitor, mouse, keyboard, and my 250 gb semi failing gets dskchk every time i boot up HDD

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.

hell yes

8. What resolution will you be using?

below 1080p

9. WHEN do you plan to build it?

a week or so?

Note that it is usually not cost or time effective to choose your build more than a month before you actually plan to be using it.

If you look at the forums, I think you will find not many people are buying that particular motherboard. However, that does not mean it is not a good product. I would be looking for some benchmarks and reviews before I purchase a motherboard. A motherboard is one item you want to see some reviews on first.

Of course I like Intel Motherboards and I dont see many people buying that but there are a lot of gamers on here. A lot depends on if you overclock and whether that board is good for that. I do not overclock and find Intel makes good stable motherboards. Technically they only design them.

No video card?

http://redirect.anandtech.com/r?url...duct.aspx?Item=N82E16811352009&user=u00000687Well, you've only used $600 out of your $700 budget. Since you're getting a 5770 from a friend, and you're presumably fine with its level of performance, get a better mobo, better PSU and/or better SSD. Or sell the 5770 :)D) and buy a 6870. Or drop the SSD altogether and buy a 7850 2GB (only if you play on 1080p).

I don't think the aftermarket cooler is really necessary. Try the boxed cooler out, unless you're 100% sure you don't like it.

I'll be overclocking.
I'll probably change the CPU out for a 3570k

The b75chipset allows overclocking

Buy the PCP&C PSU, it's a nice deal on a Seasonic built unit. Otherwise I think that looks pretty good. Havik 120 is a bit expensive though, I'd settle for a CM 212+ $20 AR and OC to 4.0-4.2

Where's your hard disk? And your SSD too, can't see it. I don't think you'd get by with only a 60GB SSD by the way, need more space than that

I'm honestly too lazy to offer any recommendations, sorry ^_^

The only way would be by upping the turbo multi to 41, and even then it'd be 4.1ghz only for a single core at a time. I don't know if any motherboard allows for such an increase, not to mention the chip itself. The base clock is practically locked because it controls PCIe as well just like with SB.

I edited the post. I will be getting a 3570k

Currently doing school work so can't mock up a build atm

The build that you have listed in post #5 looks pretty good to me. If the i5 2500K is sub $200, I would definitely get that over the 3570K.

Whatever you do, don't get the GeminII cooler. It sucks royally. I had one, my friend had two. Once I found out how badly it cooled, compared to how you would think it would cool due to it's size, I sold mine.

Edit: I'm parting out my main rig, I would be willing to make you a deal on a 990FX mobo, and a 1045T X6 CPU, along with a pair of GTX460 cards, if you were interested.

I think the GeminII was picked only because Core 1000 wouldn't fit tower coolers, and the CPU was a non-K. Are there any low-profile alternatives at that price which perform better?

I want to be able to buy (most) of my parts and put it together and be able to say "I came up with this and built this" :p

Edit: amazon is selling the 3570k for 228 :D

Edit: I'll ask him to see if he's willing to let it got for 170.

Looks good.. I'd get the 500W PSU though it's not much more expensive but allows you to later add a GPU that needs 2x-6pin. Also, Antec Kuhler is a bit cheaper, $53AR

Noctua C14 wouldn't even fit btw. 140mm height, core 1000 has 135mm clearance.
