We dated for 7 years before marriage. Here was my proposal.

I spent my "new home theater" money buying a nice engagement ring and then went to Wal-Mart and got the smallest CZ ring for about $20. I replaced the real ring with the CZ and before going out to dinner I convinced my wife to go back to the soccer field where we first met. We were sitting in the same area of the stands when I said some sappy stuff, proposed, and gave here the fake ring (it was not to test her but as a joke).

The girl in the red dress kinda looks like Erin from The Office. Also, whatsup with the gay guys kissing?! Leave that out next time.

$160 per person is too expensive?! This is probably the most important day of your life here.

While I don't think the big fancy recorded proposal is for everyone, there's something really nice about the momento it produces; something to watch later over and over and enjoy.

What is your girl into? That will help with ideas. Where does she work, is she big into her career, does she volunteer, what are her hobbies, is she a dog or cat person, what does she like to do with her friends, is she more of a public or private person, adventurous or shy...?

Agreed, it would be helpful to know more about the bride to be, her likes, her hobbies, etc.

I slipped the ring/box into the bottom of our christmas ornament cardboard box.
The day we were putting up the tree together, it was the last thing she picked up out of the big box.
She said "What is this? I don't remember this one..." ...opened it up and gasped.
That's when I took it from her, dropped to one knee and proposed.
It was great!

I do not recommend doing anything out in public in front of large groups of people.
To me, it is an intimate moment that should only be shared by 2 people.
