Yes, But I am looking for a review that contains the setup in my last post :) And I did read that review. But you posted two reviews, and they were the same :)

I'm not sure such a review exists though.

2-3 years down the line - 2GBs of ram might start to come into play much more so. Since BF3 and Crysis 2 are not out yet, why not pick up a single HD6950 for $280 and then when those games come out, pick up a 2nd HD6950 at reduced prices. Since your MB only supports CF and you plan to keep this card(s) for 2-3 years, I'd be leaning towards AMD HD69xx series.

Yea, basically exactly this.

Makes by far the most sense and lets you take advantage of CF when you need it (ie: not right now).

What kind of basic jump can I expect from a 9800GTX to something like a 6870 / 570 ?

I'd very much prefer keep the minimum to the 6870 level of performance without overclocking. I know how to overclock GPU's, But since these are all great cards, I just really don't see the need for such a thing.

Of course I run benchmarks and stuff like that as well. But I dont go for highest clocks/scores for e-peen.

I just want great FPS and IQ.

One of my younger brothers has a EVGA GTX460 1-GIG. He has the external exhaust cooling. He ordered the regular card "stock clocks" and they sent him the Superclocked card. The one that is clocked at 673 on the core....or something like that.
Well, a GTX 460 658mb is going to be more than twice as fast as your current card, just as a reference. I would say that a 570 is going to be at least 3X as powerful, maybe even more, especially if you overclock and use lots of AA.

Oh, one more question before I forget. Is it as easy to control fan speed on AMD/ATI cards as it is on Nvidia ?

Good choice with the 6870's, hope they work out well for you.

$60 cheaper for the cpu vs the I7 950 and up to $100 cheaper for the motherboard? I see nothing wrong with the 1090T.

Yep. I did. And it is a gaming rig. If you look at other reviews though...mostly with 1920 res or higher, there is not much difference at all between something like the 1090T and an I7.

You say that now, untill you run into the one or two games where it becomes a problem. But whatever. It's your money, your choice.

Was thinking more like an i5-760 for $200. Then again, he should've just waited for Sandy Bridge if he's upgrading his GPU now. Prices aren't going to change much, if at all, between now and Jan. 9th.
