The U.S. threat level is High, or Orange, for all domestic and international flights (DHS). However there continues to be no credible, specific intelligence to suggest an imminent threat to the homeland at this time.

Obviously in reality we can't vote on what the threat level should be, but lets do it here anyway. Do you think this is appropriate? When should it be lowered? It seems like we've been at orange for a long time. What does "high risk" even mean anymore?

Elevated. Like it has sat since the formation of the Homeland Security crap.

Only four votes with this many views?

How about some guesses as to when it will come down? I think it definitely won't under Bush, and the next president is unlikely to do it either. I don't think the system its doing any good right now, but there would be a political price paid if we got rid of it and then were surprised by a terrorist attack. So that means we're probably stuck with it for life.

Let me ask you something:

When did these alerts ever thwart an attack? I'm not talking about justifications that come much later (and may very well be fabricated), but visible, independently verifiable proof that, indeed, the alert did prevent an imminent attack, and the culprits were apprehended as a result.

Fear...
Inconvenience...
Anger...
Resentment...

Aren't these already a price too high to be paid?
