So your into rock collecting? That's pretty cool I still have my rock collection including from my pilgrimage to Franklin to gather UV rocks. Still have my "portable" metal UV dual wave lamp.
Cool. I've never been to Franklin but I'm thinking about heading that way maybe next Spring for the local rock.

I've collected rocks since I was a little kid finding crystal filled vugs in the neighbor's driveway gravel. I found some fluorescent rocks in Arizona a few years ago that got me started on fluorescent minerals.

Here's my fluorescent mineral page.

Don't axe, don't fell. (I'm a lumberjack but I'm okay)

Looks like a nice axe, probably more useful than your battle axe.
Waaay more useful. It's relatively light(2.2#) and short(~24"), so it's easy to use with one or two hands. Feels really good in hand also. Is it $100 more functional than a regular American axe, or $140 better than a flea market special? Nah, but it's a piece of fine craftsmanship than makes using it that much better.
Nice, also got some packages today, including this:

I used to shoot a bow when I was younger. Ostensibly for hunting, but no one in my family was into it, so I never got much woods time. Had fun shooting though. I wouldn't mind a historical replica long bow. Mostly just to look at, but I could shoot it in my backyard also. Not so interested in hunting anymore.

Very nice, that's an impressive collection, now you got me to go dig out see what I have left. Mostly from the midlatlatic area. when I was still in HS was in the gem and mineral club bla bla lol. That's before I found the weed.

I was always inspired from the smithsonian collection in DC, and the little museum at the department of interior has a smaller geology section with UV rocks.

The last picture almost looks like Pyrite. Which reminds me of a little story. One of the of buildings in DC I would service was West Heating Plant. It used a quartz schist rock that was quarried from the great falls area where they use to mine for gold. Its riddled with pyrite and I use to fool with my co-workers when we would go to the building showing them and saying its gold!
