The terror of nerf

So last week, a few co-workers of mine shot me with marsh mellow guns. I wasn't expecting it and they got me good, scared the crap out of me. I decided I needed my revenge.

So I told the ring leader that one day they would get theirs (jokingly of course), I then set out on my plan of terror.

The first stop was super target. There I acquired the tools of any good hitman's trade, Nerf guns. I went with a maverick and a alpha trooper + extra mags and ammo. At this point I was ready to exact my revenge. It was at this point though that I realized that just shooting them wasn't enough, they needed more. I wanted terror!

That night, I devised my plan, which I then began executing monday morning.

Step one, access the targets secure office, let them know no place is safe from nerf attack. Being as we are IT, that was a easy task. I left a single nerf dart placed in the center of the target's desk with a note that read "Soon". Next, the intimidation. I stalked my target by popping into rooms with a quick "Hi!". Once the nervousness set in of the attack, I decided to take it to a new level, I took my alpha trooper into my bosses office while the target was there to 'show him the toy'. Watching the target dive behind a desk for cover was well worth it. I didn't shoot the toy, I just showed it to them and said "It would be a shame if anyone was to get nerfed". Then just before I went home, I popped into the targets office to say "Hi" and again watched the target take cover, even though I was not armed. The plan was in full swing and soon they would be begging me to just shoot them!.

Today I started slow, I used the maverick to place a suction dart right on the glass of the door after the target walked into my bosses office (he's in on it). The problem is, I'm not sure where else to take the joke (and keep it a joke). Really all that is left is the inevitable showdown of the nerf war. If I keep on with the joking it could easily be construed as harassment and honestly I want to keep this mutually fun. Anyone have any suggestions? I guess I can just pop the target with a nerf dart and take my toys home until they extract their revenge...

you guys have a lot of free time at your job from the sounds of it.

90% of my job is just checking that my scripts keep doing their jobs, that I'm aware of the industry and any changes coming down/security issues, and that I complete my assignments within deadlines (mostly migrations, server standups, and sometimes groovy/grails application development). I took a job with less pay because of the relaxed environment. I work hard, but my employer understands that given freedom we can be a lot more productive (and we are, even with the screwing around).

Being as I've never missed a deadline (even if that means working nights now and then) I figure they can accept a few hours of screwing around now and then and if not, I can always go somewhere else, do the same amount of work without screwing around and make a lot more. So I guess their options are to either let us enjoy working here, or pay us more. Luckily my boss understands that if I'm playing FTL in my office for 15 minutes or shooting someone with a nerf gun, its because it will get that program written or that problem solved. Sometimes the best way to work out a problem is to come back to it after a nice stress break.

Put the tips of the nerf darts in your butt and then shoot'em.

Stink darts for the win!

LOL! At my old company they had a conference room called "Nerf" where they stored a dozen or so guns plus darts. I never got into the whole thing but if it helps people relieve stress and enjoy work more, I got no problem with it. My kids sure enjoyed visiting though.

OP, you should look into modding your guns. There are things you can do to make them a lot more powerful but still not really dangerous.

Went shopping in Toys-r-us a few weeks back for the first time in years... All the Nerf stuff seems to focus on quantity. Either they don't expect kids to be able to aim or kids have more people to shoot nowadays.

Not only that, but the quality is hit and miss. I had to take the maverick back 3 times because the first two would not fire (the revolver cylinder wouldn't line up with the barrel when firing).

we're banned from nerf wars here. but it was fun while it lasted. not a single person here that took one in the eye didnt diserve it.

In the meantime you might as well pick up one of these and mod it with a single 12v RC battery (cheap multi battery unit, or $20 for a 7000mAh 12v gel battery). That'll give you the best rate of fire with low/no risk to the unit (stock is ~9v). It's not to hard to mod a longer belt too...

That one hurts. My kid thought it would be great to play "king of the stairs".....him at the top with one of these. I gave up.
