The Tale of Princess Kaguya

im always interested in Ghibli films, however as I live in the boonies I have to wait for a BR release. and based on the rate they seem to be releasing them in the US ill prob be dead before this comes to BR

Assume it's a cartoon? If so, not interested.

Seriously? WTF?

For some reason I thought Disney bought Studio Ghibli a while back but apparently I was wrong. Was that just an April Fool's joke or did I miss something? Also, what in the fuck? Princess Mononoke finally gets US Blu-Ray release in a month and still no Spirited Away? I could understand if they were giving it some incredible transfer treatment, but they've been out in Japan and Europe for a while now so I highly doubt it (not saying they won't be good, I expect them to get great if not excellent transfers, I'm just saying I don't think that has anything to do with Disney dragging their ass over releasing them here).

Definitely interested if it's Studio Ghibli, and definitely would watch. I'm not entirely sure how much I'd enjoy that art style for a feature length animated movie, but it might be something I end up loving.

Totally not interested in ANY Japanese Anime, cartoons or fairy tales. Just don't float my boat sorry.

no Disney just is the US partner for promo and release I think. and the BR issue stems from the DVD issue. the US and Japan are in the same disk region. and they have issues with people importing things to Japan from the US as the prices on US DVD/BR media is a lot less vs Japan

Nearly a year later I finally got around to seeing it. (Never came to any American theater from the looks of things) It was really good. The way in which it combines so many themes simultaneously is excellent, though I found the ending pretty bitter. I don't get why
"the heavens" would send tons of gold and dresses to her family if she derived more happiness from being a country girl than being a princess.

I'm planning on watching it at some point as I usually enjoy the studio ghibli movies, still working on going through the older ones though, I bought the grave of fireflies blu ray a couple months back on sale but haven't gotten around to watching it yet.
