Yesterday night, my dad told me that there was an old computer sitting around somewhere where he worked, and asked if I wanted it. Today, he comes home and tells me that said computer is in the back of his Jeep. What I find is a big beige box from big blue: an IBM 5363 server!

My plans are to gut the box and build a modern PC in there.

Behold the mighty 5363! (the thing on the top of it is the rear bezel)

Some kinda expansion card?
Something familiar in an unfamiliar place

Hmm, looks like it's a 100lb paperweight. Maybe the case could be used for something interesting. Anyone know how to go about opening it?

shuttleteam: yes, that's exactly what it looks like

Google isn't very helpful...

I've got a 7531 and I don't know much about it other than that it's huge and that it had an aluminum panflo high output 120mm fan from 1985, which is now in my main AMD 2200+ rig. :D

Well, it was me that asked for it, and later declined his offer to haul it to the local dumpster when I found it to be defunct... :)

You could build a modern PC inside of it, then lug it to LAN Parties and scare the bejesus out of everyone! "Behold my uber-gaming machine!!!" ;)

you KNOW it's useless, get rid of it.

I've got a P133 in my room that works fine, 2 hdd's etc, but I have no use for it :)

damn jdman! Nice stories. Tales of beer and computers. The 1st one's a better idea, but the second was easier to read due to the bigger print.:D
