Compare the performance of the first Pentium Pro running at 120MHz with today's top of the range 1GHz Pentium 3 chip, we get the idea of the growth potential of Pentium 4. But what edges could Pentium 4 bring us over Athlon at present? Is the hollering "Quake 3 is the only benchmark left with above-average scores of Pentium 4 for the time being, ... Right now there is Quake 3 and then is Quake 3, besides that there is only Quake 3. " true?

It seems that the P4 is a colossal waste of time and money. Some folks assert that the P4 MAY become a contender if and when it reaches 2 Gigs. However, Intel is pulling a fast one with the P4--it's a temporary, transitional processor--according to knowledgeable sources.

Intel is only putting out the P4 to boast a faster clock than AMD, and to tie themselves over until they get the Itanium out.

Intel is grasping at straws at this point. With the current release of the P4, you may have noticed a barrage of advertise the P3 by some little men in blue. Seems almost a backward marketing ploy. Release a new micro-architecture and promote an archaic one. Gee, the Jones really are dumb. Is are they just sheep.

Coming from AMD fan:

It will rule in the future with its new SSE, and has HUGE potential with future applications. There is nothing now that will accuratly rate the P4. Given that, it sucks with todays applications, I think it was release ahead of its time. BTW sledghammer will crush it (whenever that comes out)
