1. EVERYONE in the world thought that Saddam had WMD. Even people who were 100% against the war thought that Saddam had WMD.
Yeah, but most knew that even if he had them that they weren't a threat to us, and that Saddam had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks, nor was he a big fan of AQ nor any other Islamic fundamentalists.

2. Many, if not all, of the people who thought that Saddam had WMD and still opposed the war thought that Saddam was a problem, but they thought that Saddam could be ?contained.?
Saddam was a problem to his people, even somewhat to the region. But not to us. If he was such a problem for his neighbors, why didn't they do something about him?

3. Even though Saddam did not have WMD there is tons of evidence that he planned to restart his WMD programs the second the pressure was off of him.
Again, those not being a threat to us.

4. WMD or not Saddam was a major supporter of terrorism and had been for years. His payments to Palestinian suicide bombers evidence of this.
Major supporter of terrorism? Oh please. Yes, he was paying the families of Palestinian suicide bombers, but that doesn't make him a "major supporter of terrorism," and yet again, not a threat to us.

5. The war was about more than just WMD. I suggest you go read the congressional authorization that lists the reasons.

Yeah, it was about more than WMD's. It was about resources, power, and money. Just like pretty much every other war throughout history.
Besides, ProfJohn, the last thing we needed was to throw 2 trillion dollars on top of our already fat debt. You yourself already posted a thread about the coming SS fiscal problems, and the medicare problem is five times worse according to David Walker. AND, on top of that, we invaded another Muslim country after we were attacked on 9/11, which just created more enemies, and makes us look more guilty in regards to meddling in ME affairs. The fact that Iraq not only has one of the largest sources of oil, but the best quality of oil on the planet doesn't help show our supposed good intentions either. I could go on. Military recruitment down.
Invading Iraq was the biggest blunder in US history for so many reasons, it is simply ridiculous.
And the blame is certainly not limited to Bush and Cheney, but also to both parties in Congress as well.
