Being the deep thinker I am. I was thinking just how amazing the sun is. Without the sun you would not have food to eat, clothes or even a house to live in. Is it any wonder the ancients worshiped the sun. Yet here in the 21st century we see the sun damn near everyday and don't care less about it. Were the ancients more in tune so to speak with life and nature as we know it? It's like the more advanced we get the more we don't care about the simple things in life.

I very much notice the sun. I'm not fan since I'm in it every day, but my body is closely tuned to it. That's why dicking with the clocks pisses me off so much. It throws my body off, and I'm not right til we're back to real time. I'd join a violent revolution if I thought it would eliminate dst.

Where I live the sun simply cannot be ignored. Every morning in high Summer the sun kicks down the front door and takes names. Even this time of year, the sunlight exerts a pressure on the skin.

Yeah, my front door faces East and boy does it get hot in the Summer. So hot you can't touch the door. I took an IR thermometer to the door, and if I can remember right it was around 130.

I think Asimov wrote a story on this theme.

IIRC its about a planet where the night sky in all of it's glory is only visible once every 1000 years.

The majesty and beauty of it drives people insane.

I like summer because of the super long days and it's always surreal to see the sun rise at like 4am lol. For rest of the year though I can go days without seeing any sun light because it's dark before and after work, and it does not really matter what shift I'm on whether it's night shift or day shift. The only difference is with night shift is if I have to get up to go pee the sun will be out so I don't need to turn on lights, but by the time I wake up to get up for my shift it will be dark again.

As a ginger I tend to avoid direct exposure to the sun. Fun thing though is we only need a very short exposure to get my daily dose of vitamin D.

The sun is mass of incandescent gas, a gigantic nuclear furnace
Where hydrogen is built into helium at a temperature of millions of degrees
Yo ho it's hot, the sun is not a place where we could live
But here on earth there'd be no life without the light it gives

We need its light, we need its heat, we need its energy
Without the sun, without a doubt, there'd be no you and me
The sun is mass of incandescent gas, a gigantic nuclear furnace
Where hydrogen is built into helium at a temperature of millions of degrees

That's some deep thinking right there. I mean the sun... it's so ubiquitously vague.

You should post this on the dark web while listening to Chicago.

you mean this song:

I remember hunting for that tune on vinyl like 20 years ago so I could sample into some dj sets back in the day. Good times. Great great tune. It's also on the secret of my success soundtrack I think.

I disagree on the OP's reasons. The rest of the solar system also has the sun and look at those losers. No pizza, no bacon, no porn. No, Earth is where it is at. Sure, we need the sun and it's doing it's job and without it we probably all wouldn't be here, but the Earth and human ingenuity is why we have all that other stuff. :D

I bought the 12" single back in the day. I still have it. :)
