The Strokes are OK.

Check out 70's Lou Reed and late 70's Iggy Pop, they're better.

Amazing cause they are bringing back a simpler style to a crappy music scene where everything is either all distortion nu-metal sh1t bands or else pop boy/girl bands that just plain suck.

i agree, don't really know how this band got so much hype i did buy the album and enjoy it somewhat
its nothing revolutionary but it's still better than the majority of the crap played today

I think the Strokes are okay, but not much better than average. "Last Night" is a great song, but the rest of the album seems to fall right in line with that song. None of them lead you to believe that they are anything more than a college band playing the circuits. I find the actual songs to sound distorted in an effort to cover up their in ability to write catchy, melodic tunes. Their melodies just seem to sit in stagnant water. His voice is covered up by some distortion to cover up his lack of range. All in all, I find it pretty boring, except for some tracks here and there.

However, music is subjective, so I doubt you're going to find a unanimous decision one way or the other.
