The Story of Stuff

It's about 20 minutes long, pretty simple. I think the general idea is correct, not sure about some of the specifics (and obviously we will know she is a bit off regarding the computer tech part). Some of it will be very familiar. Something to consider regarding our system of exploitation that happens on every level. Post your comments/criticisms please.

lol yeah that is what I was referring to.

I think the idea of the system is generally true, but some of the specifics might not be.

That's a great video, for as far as it goes. A lot more is needed. Talking to right-wingers on this is like talking to substance abusers.

On the computer part, I think she was referring to the way sockets change occassionally, requiring new motherboards to upgrade the CPU.

The reason for that is legitimate technology changes, as far as I'm aware, so she seems to miss that point.

Yeah, it's a simplistic view of the process with a hard dose of agenda. I'm sure it'll work on simpletons - just like manbearpig's movie did.

We dont actually use up all the resources. In a closed system, you can not get rid of matter, unless you put in on a big spaceship and have the aliens take it some place else.

I looked at some of it.

Take computers for example most motherboards and a lot of other stuff is made in China and Taiwan. Taiwan is technically China. So all those chinese need a job too. You dont even want to know how the chinese are getting rid of computer waste. . . It is an ecological disaster. They are burning plastic and what not in incinerators and just expelling toxic fumes into the air. Yuck!!!!

The video will, necessarily, make a lot of simplifications, including those that make you laugh, concerning computers.
However, one cannot deny that the gist of what she's saying is true, we're over-consuming and ruin the planet in the process.
