I think I stumbled here from AGN3D back around 1997-ish. Geez, I've been here for a long damn time.

I got into building my own custom computer in 2005. Saw the hot deals forum, signed up and posted about a deal. Then I saw Off Topic and jumped right in.

Was posting on another computer forum that went the way of the dinosaur. Did a search and found this place... that was 10 years ago.

When I was 17, my boyfriend scored a deal on a monitor for the computer he was building, and it happened to be a penny less than everyone else who bought that monitor so he went online to brag. This baffled me and stuck in my mind.

About a year later when I was in college and almost housebound from my newly-diagnosed rheumatoid arthritis I was bored, and I wandered onto the forums to read what my bf had posted. Then I decided to ask one silly question and I made up a dumb account name and posted. Then I posted again. And I started to recognize people in the threads and enjoy talking to them, and exchange PMs with them...

I met some of my best friends (later became my roommates) on this forum, and I met my husband here. I got stuck with that silly account name for years, til the mods agreed to take pity on me. :)

ATOT literally changed the course of my life. All because my high school bf saved a penny.

I found the site when researching my first computer build in 1997.

<-- Looking at my date, I guess I didn't join until much later.

Whoa, did not know any of this. I didn't think anyone met their spouse over here.
Pretty cool story. :)

You should be our AT testimonials person so we can get more new users here. All we seem to get nowadays is spammers. :( And our deals section isn't so active anymore. That's actually how I found this site - we need a better interface or customization of vB to spruce it up, it's hard to be anywhere as good when sites like SlickDeals have a much easier to sort and search site (they are good, but not quite as computer deals focused as we used to be).

My husband used to post on here pretty regularly. He would show me things he had seen posted on here, so one day I decided to join. :)

Building PCs. Started with those HUGE magazines with a billion ads, and building from scratch; having issues, until I got a solid internet connection.

Looked around and found this place, and some guy helped me out with a memory issue in like five minutes. Beats the hell out of any tech help line I've ever called.

Never posted much, and lost my original account details, so rejoined much later. Feels a bit like home here; tech guys talking about hardware and gaming, and everything and anything argued about for my laugh fix.

Ah, I remember when the spammers all had the default avatar. 1 Post, default avatar and talking about iPods=spammer.

Was looking to upgrade my computer. Took a couple years after joining for me to actually do it, however. Once I did I kind of stopped caring about tech stuff and just came here for off topic.

Link your first post guys :)

I just got the same card. I can't answer most of your questions but I successfully softmodded mine and got 1,000 more points in Aquamark3 (50014 total). I'm not going to try overclocking more until I need the extra performance because I have a Dell computer with a 250 watt psu and don't want to push my luck if I don't need to.
