Michael Schumacher

if you havent seen the episode tonight, well... I just ruined it for you :D

nice little article

but.... he did screw up on driving the car at the end, but I think they just did that to make a twist.

does anyone else think it may be another person?

It's definitely not Schumacher..the whole point of the lap at the end is to show that it's not.

Definately do not think it is him. Don't think Michael Schumacher has time 1x per time to fly out and do Top Gear. I think (not sure if true) that Schumacher has an agreement with Ferrari that he cannot drive any other cars on TV other than Ferrari/Fiat (I think I read it on FinalGear.com). The whole point of the episode was to test the Ferrari FXX. The one of the show was Michael's own personal car, which is why he most likely appeared and did the Stig trick. I think he may have did the lap in the Ferrari FXX, but he does not drive the cars normally as the Stig.

My 2 cents.

Well if it were Joel Schumacher all the cars would be equipped with crappy neon lights.

Of course, plus he just wouldn't have time to film cars multiple times per year for years on end WHILE being an F1 champ and assisting Ferrari with development.

But it WAS a fun interview and a fantastic drive for the FXX.

That could explain why the Ferrari absolutely dominated the track..I'm sure the Stig is/was a professional driver, but the fact that the Ferrari FXX was nearly 9 seconds faster than the Enzo shows what (one of) the best drivers in the world could do on the track.

The main modification is a boost in hp from 650 to 800, which isn't all that mind blowing, plus the track is not power/speed dominant either..so certainly putting the car behind someone who knows Ferraris best made for much of that difference.

Yeah but was Schumacher behind the wheel of the FXX when it totally destroyed the Top Gear lap time? Man, that FXX was super sexy, and it sounded exactly like a F1 car.

Wikipedia says Ferrari built an extra FXX for Schumacher and the Top Gear one was his. I would think that was his but the stupid article cites itself.

That was fucking nuts - here's the board:

Ferrari FXX - 1:10.7
...
...
...
Gumpert - 1:17.1
Ascari Alo - 1:17.3

How the hell do you shave 7 seconds off?!?!

It's not road legal, it has an extra 100 BHP, its about 45kg lighter, and has carbon ceramic brakes.

You can see those ceramic brakes glowing during the lap... Awesome!

The FXX is a track car. Not a street car, not really even a race car. It's just a toy. A very fast and expensive toy that can only be played with when Ferrari approves.

I wonder if they'll pull it off the board for that reason. If they don't I find it very hard to imagine anything else ever coming close (though Ultima claims their test driver took a GTR around the TG track in 1:12:something, and has video to prove it).

a ridiculous amount of downforce plus custom made slick tires can do wonders.

Schumacher's def not the stig, his lines are so much cleaner. Stig's driveline fits the rally car driver description.

The real identity of The Stig is widely believed to be Ben Collins, a stunt driver who acted as a double for Daniel Craig in the driving scenes in Quantum of Solace, the most recent Bond film. He lives in Bristol.

Is this the same guy who drove two DBS's into a lake during filming?
