I called it that coz I couldn't find any old related thread, which is insane considering the huge number of techies that have watched the movies at least a zillion times with the glee of a five year old eating icecream or munching down on chocolates or brownies.

these forums started about the time the series was forever ruined by the release of episode 1

I'm not saying TESB is a bad movie. It's great.

But it's the serial stuff that Lucas originally envisioned when he wanted to do Flash Gordon. Anyone can throw shit at the wall and see what sticks (see LOST). He did it well.

But ANH is a self contained masterpiece. That s insanely difficult to create.

Wow, ok. That's a word I would reserve for very few movies, and no Star Wars movie would make such a list for me (as much as I have a soft spot for the franchise despite its many shortcomings and duds).

I'm not looking to get in to an argument with you about it, but I would be curious to know which/some films outside the SW franchise that you would also regard as a masterpiece.
