What is so offensive about "The Star Spangled Banner"? Are they out of their mind or just anti america? The national anthem is a bautiful song.

They probably want to replace it with a Religious song. They have been having a bit of a tough time turning the State Red, every little thing helps turn it.

It appears they didnt ban it, its just rules as to how it can be played:

"except as an entire and separate composition or number and without embellishments of national or other melodies; nor shall ?The Star Spangled Banner? or any part thereof or selection from the same, be played as a part or selection of a medley of any kind; nor shall ?The Star Spangled Banner? be played at or in any of the places mentioned herein for dancing or as an exit march."

The Olympics play the ssb as a medley? news to me. I'm pretty sure the Olympics play it in its entirety, with nothing before it, or after it, when a US citizen wins a Gold. And they certainly dont play it as "exit music"

These just govern *how* it is to be played, not an attempt to ban it.

Although it appears in Michigan that I would not be able to get on stage at a club and fart a partial rendidtion of the SBB for entertainment purposes. First Amendment issue?

Perhaps they were just trying to prevent a Roseanne Barr type incident (btw, what city did she get booed out of the stadium? I cant remember) for when the Super Bowl comes to Detroit next year.

These type of things normally take care of themsleves, without restrictive rules and laws about how people *should* behave. I mean, Roseanne getting booed for her singing is about the last time I even remember hearing about her. Same with the bald chick who ripped up the pic of the Pope on SNL.

I'm a firm believer in giving people just enough rope... It's a form of Darwinism. ;)
