The Spore reviews start to come in

I know some folks like the micromanagement stuff. I'm really not into that regardless of how "cutesy" they make the packaging. It appears to be a Sims type of game.

No demo, no buy.

I could definitely use the change of pace, so I'm really looking forward to getting this.

Can you say "Black and White"? I thought you could. Blech! Definitely not my style.

B & W had some amazing graphics and a pretty good premise.

Creature training was a total PITA and totally shelved the game for me though. I never even went through the first portal.

I'm afraid this one (Spore) has turned out as I feared it might.

eh, need me a demo.

what kind of longevity is in this game?

I do not get what will keep me playing after a few hours...after you hit that space stage?

What part of it is online? Do you have to pay monthly?

TMK, nothing for the user to worry about. It's called a Massively Single Player game. Submitted user-created creatures are distributed automatically online, producing a unique environment. I assume similar factors apply to other stages of the game.

I know for a fact that there are no monthly fees.

Why do all the creatures look friendly, with big human eyes. Wheres the mean green lizard creatures with glowing red eyes and a spike for a left hand... I wanna dominate the solar system not the cutest creature competition.

Get the creature creator (or just buy the game) and make one. I made a nasty looking centipede/pincer/termite thing that shoots quills out of its ass. Those are the stock screenshots.

Yeah, no kidding... this game can be FAR from cute if you want it to be. Just make a badass creature and when the game starts getting RTS like, focus on military and blow the hell out of everyone.

If you were part of the early creature creation when it was released to the public you will know that sharing spore creations will not work for one reason alone and this game will not be safe to ever use anyone else's creation for this reason alone.

Beware sharing

A Sims type game? From Will Wright? No kidding?

Get the Creature Creator out now. Spore has a massive amount of replayability, since everything in the world is user created from other people including buildings, the environment (trees etc) vehicles, space ships and of course your creatures- it provides a different world each time. No you don't have to play monthly, mainly online is sharing creatures and downloading other content that other people have made.

Can't wait!

Wow, most of those are *nice*. Trogdor needs double the muscle on the arm though, the rendering doesn't do him justice.
