Maybe HBO wanted to give it's viewers a preview of what life will be like once we cancel our subscriptions now that their top series has ended 🙂

Tony Soprano is dead.

Every time the door opened, it was from Tony's perspective.

Last thing Tony hears is Meadow walking in, then black.

He is shot by that guy that walks into the bathroom. Clearly a reference to Godfather.

Damn you David Chase.

Makes no sense why he would get whacked now. Phil is dead, he made peace with the rest of the crew.

Peace with a mob crew? You'll have better luck buying a used car.

Well, that was a waste of time. **I** could have come up with a better ending, and it would have involved Meadow being topless.

Now *THAT* would have been worth waiting 8 years to see.

I disagree. You say it's "clearly" something that nobody else can see.

You can interpret it however you feel, but the first thing that came up in our group was the suspicious eye that the camera panned on that fellow.

He didn't walk into the bathroom just for the hell of it. Every shot is thought ahead of time. He walks into the bathroom for a reason.

OK - ignore the Italian looking guy who wondered into the bathroom.

Didn't anyone notice the weird looking trucker with the cap pulled down? He had some scars on his face? Didn't he looking vaguely familiar to anyone? Like a certain Terminator? Who had all that gambling debt to Tony and wondered off somewhere after loosing everything? Someone who had reason to hate Tony Soprano more than anyone else?

David Scatino shot Tony Soprano.

I'm gonna watch the episode again later tonight but I'm almost positive that it was him sitting there.

If he's gonna kill tony in plain view with all the witnesses. Why not just carry the gun on him? Makes no sense.

Remember that conversation Tony had the other week with Bobby, "You never hear The Shot that kills you"....just goes to black.....

I noticed that as well and was curious to see if that was how it was gonna play out

The whole point of that ending was to instill the same sense of anxiety that Tony always carries with him.

Him getting whacked with the immediate black screen is the only way I could see that ending making any sense.

I'm glad I never watched the show, what a lame episode for the last one. They tried too hard with the diner scene to add suspense, the weird dude sitting at the bar they kept showing, the fact she couldn't park the car, Jesus they put so much emphasis on that part I thought she was going to get wacked. OHHH she can't park haha. I never liked the show but it was obviously popular enough to stay on for 8 seasons. With an ending like that I can't say I missed much not watching it.

his family is all fcked up and at the end they're all sitting down to a nice family dinner at a diner how sweet.

I don't remember him saying that. But if he did, then that must be it. I was anxious throughout the whole hour myself. Strangely, I'm glad it's over (for him).

I contend that the ending is brilliant. Alas, I have a paper to write. But, in short, the ending spoke to the core family drama (the Sopanos is the best family drama tv show ever produced) theme that David Chase built. Essentially, there are two families that run Tony's life, one with Carmela and the kids, and the other with a bunch of murderous italian men. The later provides the former with a lavish income and enviable opportunities, but also unsettles it with the violence and destructions that accompanies mob life. We do not know if that guy who walked into the bathroom killed Tony (of course, that is a reference to the Godfather when Michael kills Sollozzo and Captain McCluskey), but we do know that he lives in constant fear that some altercation might end up taking his life and his family's lifestyle. That is, in essence, Tony Soprano's life, not to mention the impending indictments.

I was hoping that they would've at least let AJ's girl get that bra off in the truck...but Nooo
