I had the chance to use one at the Sony store in Berlin, recently (the one at Potsdamer Platz). It is a very slick phone, and I haven't lusted after a phone like this in quite some time. I received an iPhone 5 as a gift recently and sent it back (this is a close friend) asking for him to buy the Sony Xperia Z for me when it is released. I look forward to battery life reviews, and to testing it properly to see how battery life fares with high Exchange usage (push) e-mails. The screen is gorgeous, and I had no problems adjusting to the size after a long time with the Galaxy Nexus. Here's hoping that it lives up to my excitement.

If this screen had good viewing angles ,this would be my new phone. WTF Sony.

Consider it a free privacy screen protector :)
People pay $20 for a good privacy screen protector.

It is a nice looking phone, but the viewing angles do ruin it a bit. It is a little late to be released though, as typical for Sony.
The S4 Pro is old news. New phones are all releasing with the S600. This phone was announced back in January or something and only released now on t-mobile.

Yeah, this is the 2nd time they've done this. I don't know what the fuck they're thinking by doing this. Last year SONY said they would up their game. This is pathetic.

It's unfortunate, really. I liked the design of the phone a lot, and the launcher looked most faithful to stock Android. But from what I read, despite its beautiful design, the size and shape (too square) make it somewhat uncomfortable to hold. And yeah, S4 Pro today feels dated for the top of the line phone.

I was digging more into the Z tablet, but I'm afraid that one's also late as well. I was going to get one as a gift to my friend when I first saw it, but at this point it's probably worthwhile to see what the next gen tablets (both 7"~8" and 10~11") look like.

Well, I own and use an Xperia Z. The viewing angles are not outstanding, but in my personal use I appreciate this. In my line of work I use a privacy overlay on my work laptop too, so that those sitting next to me cannot see what I'm doing. And frankly, if I'm on a subway going somewhere, I do not want people to see me sexting (or otherwise) by glancing over my shoulder.

On the late release in the USA - that is unfortunate. Sony ran a nice advertising campaign (in continental Europe) at least, and the phone is great. I'm sure that there are faster phones but I do not treat my phone as a mobile enthusiast gaming platform. I enjoy the water resistant design, and the squarish shape is better than my Galaxy Nexus' roundness - it maintains its position in my suit jacket pockets, instead of rotating horizontally and creating an awkward bulge in my chest (no manboobs, yet).

I don't see what the practical benefit of amazing viewing angles is, but perhaps I'm overly private. On the late release - well...it is unfortunate. I've become something of a sony fan lately after my last laptop purchase (a sony z series with 512gb ssds in raid setup), and this phone - hopefully they'll continue a 'z' line in the portable space and just continue to up their game.

So far there is a lot of rumors saying that they've discontinued their notebook Z line.

If that turns out to be true I'll be really disappointed. I'm incredibly pleased with this one (and I bought the sheet battery also; great design).

On the phone, I'm really enjoying mine - it came with the dock and that is nice, but has anyone else found a case for the phone that can work with the dock? I've never bought a case for a phone but I am considering one this time.
