Arabs took african slaves long before whites, and by some estimations, took just as many as well. Now christians and muslims war with each other - blame that on the spread of christianity by the whites? or the spread of islam by the arabs, who were the first to enslave them in masses.

I was thinking more about the introduction of guns into a place that wasn't ready for them. Even now, in more isolated parts of Africa, they still fight inter-tribal wars. But with automatic weapons instead of sticks and stones. Mass slaughter ensues.
