i awoke
only to find my lungs empty
and through the night
so it seems i'm not breathing
and now my dreams
are nothing like they were meant to be
and i'm breakin down
i think i'm breakin down

Ive bought that same exact bottle before. Never worked for me. Benadryl works pretty good to get me sleepy sometimes.

I've found that it doesn't make me sleepy, but it does help me get to sleep.

I know that is strange, but if I'm having trouble sleeping and take it and lay in bed I get to sleep. If I'm having trouble sleeping, take it and watch tv, I stay awake all night.

I think it just triggers the "it's time for bed" response.

I've been taking that for over 10 years, works well for me. Also melatonin is suppose to be good for you, high in antioxidants.

That shit knocked me out. I was in bed, too tired to even move an ounce. Like a damn tranquilizer.

Fucking epic. Can't wait to use it again.

1-3mg is a pretty standard recommended dose. yes it's more than your body needs.

if it works in 10-15 minutes your sleep problems are in your head.
melatonin requires 1-5 HOURS to work.

it works for me briefly but I quickly build up a tolerance

you & she mutually cuddle up in warm loving togetherness, & your can't-fall-asleep problem WILL BE SOLVED, guaranteed
I wouldn't sleep till I wore that out. At my age, I wouldn't get another crack at it. Well, unless I paid.

No. It does not require 1-5 hours. I believe it depends entirely on your body, but in 15-20 minutes it knocks me out and I get tired and just go to bed. After 2-3 minutes of wakeness I'm dead asleep.

Yep, those little guys are great. I used to take lorazepam to help me sleep, and it's nice to have found a less overkill, OTC solution.

I take 1 0.3mg pill (CVS brand has the small ones) about 1hr before I plan on going to sleep. Maybe I'll try raising the dose a little and gauge the effect. But I read a study (cited on Wiki) that indicated that as small as 0.3mg doses were effective and taking too large of a dose can be detrimental.

I don't fall asleep nearly as quickly as I would with lorazepam, but it's still WAY better than having to go to sleep unassisted. Yay melatonin! (Hopefully they don't decide it gives you cancer 20yrs down the road...)

What I'm saying is melatonin doesn't work that way. since it does work for you, and that's the key part, it's not working on a physiological level.
the important thing is that it works.

Melatonin definitely calms the brain. As someone who goes days without sleep, I notice a definite sedating and decrease in brain soreness. Not in a "OMG I can't stay awake" way, more like a peaceful easy feeling. I take it most nights. GABA-boosters are more effective drowsiness inducers, IME (e.g. Norflex,Topamax). Taurine also can give you that deadly calm. It acts on GABA receptors in the hypothalamus.

My insomniac friends smoke/eat pot, and they said it works great with no side effects, provided you don't get super faded, but just enough to be sleepy.
