just finished FF 3 (aka 6). what a game! recently also finished chrono trigger and secret of mana. i can't believe i had missed out on so many good games. i'm actually kind of surprised that i find them so enjoyable after years of high quality PC game graphics. i didn't seem to mind the crappy graphics one bit.

these games now rank among my all time favorites

I play games on all platforms but Im a pc gamer, especially online FPS's.

Out of all the games that I have played, which is a huge list, the best game has to be Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the N64 way back in good old 1998. Man I still play it sometimes on the Gamecube (they released the same Ocarina on it). Everyone should try it, best game ever.

Cool! I always wondered whether I still loved those games because I was young when I first played them, or if they were just truly great, but I'm starting to think more and more that they're just great. 😀

Recently I've gone back and played FF 2/4, 3/6 and Secret of Mana. Good times. 😀

Oh yeah and I played some Terranigma, but it didn't seem to be getting all that interesting, and I was confused about what to do, so I just stopped. Does it really get a lot better later in the game?

edit: BTW, if you haven't already, play xenogears!

also play FF2 US, i think it was 5 in japan. thats a great one. avoid FF mystic quest it was horrid and mostly ignored and forgoten and for good reason. FF6 is what first made me a square fanboy.

yes 🙂

Not as good as some FFs or chrono trigger. But still a pretty good rpg.

Oh yeah, and not quite an RPG but still a fun quick SNES game

Actraiser!!

FF2 is FF4j.

FF7. 🙂 (for PSX, I know, but whatever)

I just got it for PC the other day because I was longing to play it, but I haven't really had the time. I also got Tales of Symphonia for GC (I love the Tales series... and the Grandia series, completely unrelated, I know). I haven't been able to play that much either, I'm usually too tired to play console games and would rather play something on the PC where I can interact with others and whatnot. Plus my TV is mounted on the wall, so I have to lay down in bed to play console games or watch tv and that gets me sleepy.

I always hear everybody bash FF:MQ, but I've played through all the FF games up to and including FF7, and I still found FF:MQ to be a fun game and played through it a couple times. As long as one goes into it expecting it to be a "lite" FF game, then one knows better what to expect.

Secret of Mana is an awesome game. If you feel like digging around on the internet, there is a translated ROM for the sequel that we never got in the states. It has the same graphics as the first and is just as much fun.

and FF2/4 is even better.

FF3/6 was messed up because anyone could be anything, basically. The inventor prince guy was my primary caster... once you get ultima and can cast it twice a round for 1 mana point it really doesn't matter who is doing what.

Even more so now that there are fan translations of games like Tales of Phantasia, Rudra's Treasure, StarOcean, and Secret of Mana 2(Seiken Densetsu 3).

Earthbound is awesome... man I loved that game.

Absolutely!! I absolutely loved Earthbound! The graphics are so beyond bad.. we are talking NES bad, but the game is just so good! Great modern setting and funny characters. Hideous looking drug induced battles but the story is just great.
